his and hers

Marin, CA : Beautiful and lively and referred to me by this beautiful momma’s twin sister. If she looks familiar, it is because she is! I felt right at home in the big family chaos, and wanted to hang out in their amazing and impeccable “tree house” for a month. Would that be okay guys? :)

The weather barely cooperated and it was very dark (aside from a few moments towards the end). But the first grainy set of images that I took in their almost dark bedroom, lit only by lamps and minuscule amounts of window light, are my favorites.

The set of three where Aimee and Peter are canoodling made me cry and my glasses fogged up while shooting. They were the last three shots we took.

So much love here, not to mention a PLETHORA of good genes.

  1. Oh, I adore these! Every moment you caught just bursts with love and family and fun. And that filmy grain, oh, and that light, especially in the one with them all standing between those gorgeous birch trees, oh. You’ve completely captivated me with this session.

  2. Awesome shoot Tara! Such a beautiful family, and you (as per usual!) have captured the love.

Have to say, for low light situations, I am LOVING my new Canon 1D MkIV, it does great in low light situations. Sometimes I help out a bit by bouncing some flash, as I did at a toddler shoot last week. I’ve been updating my blog (dropped the website, and now have a blogsite), so am behind in posting the sneak peek, but I can’t wait to get it up (probably next week at this point!). But I have posted my first blog posting with the new camera, it is an awesome piece of kit! (Especially paired with the super sweet Canon 85 f1.2L lens!) :-)

  3. OMG. I think this could be my very favourite set of yours – of all time. I could not love this more. I don’t know what else to say. Love it love it love it. The clothes, the colours, the love, the beauty. You reached for the stars and ended up in the next galaxy Tara!

  6. seeeeriously! that is one good lookin’ family! geeze. these are some of my favorites that i’ve seen of your work. as i photographer i understand that it’s one thing if the photographer has talent, but when it is paired with a family who knows what to do in front of the camera and is comfortable doing it… magical things happen.
