happy belly

i was so excited in february to get contacted by two pregnant women. the first was a mom that learned of me through my friend sheridan. sheridan is a doula here in orange county, and she also teaches hyno-babies classes.. Hypnobabies is the training of the inner mind so that contractions in labor are felt only as pressure and tightening sensations. There is no pain. (i have watched sheridan give birth without any medication. it was amazing.)

erin decided to hire me for a maternity and newborn session. cant wait to go back for little sam, who was born just a day after these pictures were taken.

she had a glorious bathroom-so we started in there.

then we got dressed and headed out and about in san clemente.

i couldnt take a bad photo of this sweet girl.

i kept thinking throughout our session how her little bellybutton looked like a nose…

so when we got back to her place, we whipped out the eye and lip pencils.
and that is why this post is titled: happy belly!

  1. Wow….this is one of the most captivating maternity session samples I have seen in a very long time. The mom-to-be is simply gorgeous and you have captured her beauty sooo well. The first shot is my very favorite one, but really…they are all stunning.

  2. WOW.wow.WOW.wow.WOW. tara!!! you did it again. captured magic. i totally ADORE that first shot. so calm and peaceful….with the look as if she knows her whole world is about to change–and she’s okay with that. seriously, that shot is perfection.

  3. Just had to post that giving birth without medication is not some out of the ordinary thing…I’ve had 2 babies WITHOUT any medication at all. :-)

  4. thanks everyone!
cindy-its definitely out of the ordinary nowadays. dr’s are pushing c-section more and more, and inductions with epidurals. i wish i had known about hypnobabies when i was still giving birth. i didnt know there were other options aside from lamaze and pain meds.

  5. These shots are so great – love the bathtub one, the one in the grass, but especially the Happy Belly!! I had a friend who was pregnant at Halloween – and yes, we made the Great Pumpkin on hers!!! It was great fun and a great photo!

  6. Ahh the lurker finally can’t resist and must say something about the magic you always create. The bathtub shot is amazing. The moment, the emotion, the beauty of pregnancy are all captured in that one shot.
