Halloween Playlist

This morning as I drove Mckenna to school she looked up at me with bright eyes because she had just realized something very very very fantastic.

“MOM! It is almost HALLoween! We can listen to the Halloween PLAYlist on Mommy’s iPod in Mommy’s CAR!”

And then she switched the radio over to turn on the Halloween playlist, and we rocked out to this song all the way to school.

I have two holiday playlists – one for Christmas, one for Halloween.

I thought I would share my Halloween list on this very spooky Halloween-y fall kind of day.

Do you have any ideas for songs we are missing out on?

xo

(boo!)

  1. Got have a little David Bowie – Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) and maybe if you are frisky Rocky Horror Picture Show – Time Warp.

I love listening to your Halloween mix too! It always gets me in the spirit.

  2. ooh, you have a few i hadn’t thought of!
    some of my faves are:
it’s halloween (the shaggs) – truly a halloween classic
i’m a vampire (future bible heroes)
ghost of a texas ladies man (concrete blonde)
    dead man’s party (oingo boingo)
    pet cemetery (the ramones)

  3. Good ones, all around . . . totally going to snag “Something Wicked” from Harry Potter 3–love that song and never thought to itunes it and make a song list. That’s now my top Halloween priority. I also love all the music from Night At The Museum–that movie always feels very groovy Halloween-ish to me. And you’re missing my favorite . . . “Grim Grinning Ghosts” by BNL.

  4. When I was young I loved the song “Witch’s’ Brew” but I have no clue who sings it. It was a kids song played on a record player at daycare (it’s been a while:)

  5. Today WAS spooky! That was the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my entire life. My kids are little so our Halloween songs are “Ghostbusters” (from the movie) and “Trick or Treat” by Justin Roberts. Might be a kids song but I have to admit I catch myself humming it around the house. =0)

  6. I tore out this list a while back from Cookie Magazine…

Lil Red Riding Hood – Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs
    Spooky – Dusty Springfield
    Somebody’s Watching Me – Rockwell
Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon
Black Magic Woman – Fleetwood Mac
    Thriller – MJ
Boris the Spider – The Who
    It’s Halloween – The Shaggs
My Moon My Man – Feist

    LOVE your list too! :)

  7. LOVE making playlists – here are a few from our Halloween playlist that are missing from yours:

    Sugar Sugar – the Archies
    Superstition – Stevie Wonder
    Spooky – The Classics IV
Tubular Bells/Theme from Exorcist – 101 Strings Orchestra
    Twilight Zone – Golden Earring
Do You Believe in Magic – Aly & AJ
    Abracadabra – Steve Miller
and anything from the Wizards of Waverly Place soundtrack
    :)

  8. SO fun! I am going to do this with my daughter today! She’s little, so we will be including things from Count von Count! He’s got a rockin version of Monster Mash with Zoe and Elmo, and funny songs called Transylvania Polka, and Bones Inside of You…really is it clear that I haven’t outgrown Sesame Street myself? Ha!

And hey, what about The Cranberries’ Zombie? :)

  9. Love this playlist – but you’re missing one of my favorites
Dead Man’s Party – Oingo Boingo
(and if you like stuff a little harder, Living Dead Girl – Rob Zombie)

  10. I’ve been playing the true blood soundtrack in the car and this is my kids fave: Bones by Little Big Town. They think the lyrics are fun: “you’ve got bones in your closet, you’ve got ghosts in your town…”
