A COUPLES SESSION – AJ + MEGAN, MY BROTHER AND HIS FIANCE

This is my brother and the woman he is going to marry — THIS — Friday. (!!!!)  He is the last one of us to marry off, the baby of the family. They’ve been together nine years, if he hadn’t finally proposed, we were going to just go ahead and adopt Megs into the family anyway.

I really, really have a good time when I get to photograph people I know and love. It means a lot to me. Lots of love going around on this one. I’ve been wanting a couple to do some sexy fun photos for awhile, and Megan wanted moody/dark nature portraits. Their apartment is a dream, their connection is adorable, and I could photograph Megan everyday for the rest of my life. But the cherry on top is seeing my brother so perfectly content.

(Note: You will notice scars on Aj’s chest. AJ is trans. He legally changed his gender and name in 2016.)

A FAMILY SESSION – IN THEIR PORTLAND HOME BEFORE MOVING OUT OF THE COUNTRY

I just decided. I’m blogging again.

The goal for this session was to get photographic evidence of their life and their house in Portland, OR before a big adventurous move to Ukraine, where Mom was raised. It took place just a few weeks before they left – so the photos were delivered and viewed in Ukraine – cool. Two things to note: I was warned before-hand that Dad was notoriously awkward for photos, and was texted hours before by mom in a last minute panic about the house. FYI this is a very very typical house for me to shoot in. Modest, small, patchy light – you will see we clung to windows. It was perfect. I tell you this to prove a point: it doesn’t matter, because you would never know.

I will make sure your husband has fun and your house looks flooded in light. ;)
