giveaway – vol25

This weekend I am hosting a giveaway from VOL25 Designs.

A note from the owner, Jessica:

“I would love to giveaway a $100.00 gift card to my VOL25 Digital Eye Candy Shop! I offer album and card templates, (I’ve included an image showing some of the examples from my P365 album templates) but I really specialize in the overlay sets. I currently have 15 different sets/themes available. Each overlay set contains 9 custom shapes that work as overlays for your photos. Because they are in the form of custom shapes, they are vector based. This allows you to stretch and manipulate the shapes to conform to different angles, without loss of quality. :) They are also great for marketing materials!

I do have a free trial shape available for download if anyone wants to try before buying. The trial shape is available here: http://vol25-digitaleyecandy.com/pages/free-trial-shape

Blog readers can save 35% off they’re entire order by using coupon code: TARAROCKS :) Code expires April 16th.

VOL25 is also on facebook!”

Post a comment on the blog and a winner will be chosen Monday morning, 9am PST, and emailed.

Thank you!

seeing shannon

Shannon Leith is a photographer and friend of mine, who wanted updated images of herself for her websites.

Her requests:  simple, show her quiet side, against a white wall, focus on her eyes.

I took her around the corner from my house, behind a Big Lots, and spent about an hour talking to her and pushing the shutter. The light was freaky – sun going in and out of the clouds. It was …. um, noon. We both laughed that I was a photographer shooting another photographer in the worst light of the day.

I hadn’t met Shannon prior to photographing her, but she gave herself to me completely. She talked and I listened.

I was mesmerized.

This session has brought up the topic of “seeing” between Shannon and I.

*

I operate under the belief that people really just want to be seen. If you can truly see someone, you give them a gift.

I use this philosophy in my work and as a mother. I don’t think I can do anything more important for my children than to truly see them.

Same for my clients. I take in everything that I could possibly think, and stop thinking.

And just see.

Shannon shared this on her twitter feed today, and I wanted to post it along with her photos:

“One of the deepest longings of the human soul is to be seen.” – John O’Donohue

They told me, “Do whatever you want with us.”

This is what happened.
