Back in May, I traveled to Washington DC and Raleigh NC for a week of shooting what turned out to be truly amazing people. This was the first session of the trip. When you start your week with such a bang, in a picturesque lake house with a cat and a dog and a boat and a beach and a funny, loving family it can set you up for disappointment for the rest of the trip. That didn’t come close to happening. Each subsequent family allowed me into their lives in different ways and connected to me so quickly it was shocking. I came home at the end of the week with a full heart, missing the beautiful people I had met, and a new found confidence in what I can accomplish.

  1. Tara, you are so talented! I found myself wondering which of these photos I’d want enlarged, on my walls, if this was my family. I finally concluded that I *might* be able to pick one when you have several of the same pose. Beyond that?? Fuggettabit.

Could you tell us where this lake is?

  2. I just love your photography style! I have been looking at pictures at your blog for hours now, I`m so inspired! :) You really capture relationships and emotions.
