rosie & her james

Thirty minutes later in another part of town:

James hails from Scotland, and I might have asked him to talk a lot simply to hear him speak.
Rosie resides in Chicago, where she owns and runs her own clothing boutique, named Roslyn.
Rosie is good friends with a client turned friend, Michelle, who is one of the women I went to Thailand with. I also photographed her gorgeous pregnant belly, pre Thailand.
(Fun connection: Rosie is Thai and the blanket they are making out on is Thai. Bought it on my trip.)
I photographed Rosie, Michelle, and their friend Amy while they were on a Los Angeles girls weekend.
Rosie came back to me for her engagement session with her James.

We started in the sun and headed to the beach where it was locked in with cloud cover. And dark. Very dark. I was a little worried, but I think the end results were good. They got a mix of sunny and happy along with moody and sexy.

I hope I get to photograph their babies.

  1. i love these. (do i say that too much?) after looking at all these new images, my favorite part was clicking back through the old links. click click click. i’d seen them before and yet i looked as though i’d never beheld such beauty. the portraits contained in each of those links just blow me away. that’s some beautiful stuff wrapped up in the relationship tree! <3

  2. ahhhh, beautiful. That fourth image down- BW with the amazing light- LOVE LOVE LOVE it. So amazing. And I agree with you, guys go up by about 100% in the hotness scale when they come with a Scottish accent :)

  3. These photos and the “bro + sis” have a different vibe. It’s like you are looking through your lens differently. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it jumped out at me immediately. LOVE how you used the lovely flax gold color for your blurry shot – SO nice!

  4. For whatever reason, I tend to gloss over the couple portraits… normally, they’re not my fave. But this? Wow. It honestly speaks to me. I can actually feel the love they have for each other.

  5. Ya know, I would probably hang some of your client’s pictures in my home because you take such beautiful pictures . . . even though they are Total Strangers!!!

    That’s how much I LOVE your work, TARA WHITNEY!!! <3 <3 <3
