Jax \ 5 weeks \ the shop

Jax is the son of my best friends, Jalayne and Justin. You can see the progression of their life together here and here and here and here.

These are the photos taken in his Dad’s woodworking shop on our last day together. Justin loves this place and I loved watching him in it. He walked around, showing me everything he has customized for himself. He is passionate about his work there the way I am passionate about my work here. Jax tuckered out in Momma’s arms and then fell into a deep sleep on his father’s work table as we all talked.

  1. Your photos are beautiful. Your comment below is so true as well. I wish I could go back in time and take the photos that I see now of my children back when they were born. Of me too. There are really no maternity shots that I have when my body changed over time. Thank you for sharing your friends.

  2. Oh Tara..this series of your best friend warms my heart. My bestie is pregnant and I just did maternity photos for her.

That last photo? Of the three of them? I hope they get blown up VERY big inside their home. It is perfect in every way.

  3. When it comes to vertical shots, you are the best. I rarely turn my camera that way, but you make me want to do that.

What a gorgeous family. Their connection is beautiful.

  4. Oh Tara, these are such beautiful lil boy photos… what a great backdrop for a photo shoot… so natural, so lovely, you are just so amazing as usual :) Love the photos, so much love here!

  5. Jalayne, as always you look beautiful! Jax is so precious. I wish you and Justin all the best! Tara, you are always such an inspiration! We just flew back home from our four day getaway in S.F. and it was amazing! I had a great time photographing the city and I appreciate your advice and your inspiration! Love ya!

  6. Fantastic! His little fingers look just like the ones I remember on my baby dolls. I guess they looked like that for a reason, huh? Fingers are one of my most favorite parts of the body but baby fingers? Oh gosh. They melt my heart away!

I also really really REALLY love that shot of Jax passed out on the table with Justin in the background. And I love the idea of y’all standing around the work table talking while he snoozed. Beautiful!

  7. I want to spend a significant amount of time in this man’s workshop with him… it looks like a perfect way to spend time. Congratulations to him and his family for their pieces of art…
