boys, legos, dumpers, and dirt • family session at home

My favorite place to photograph anyone is in their home.

Most people shy away from it for the simple reason that they think their home has to be in a “perfect” state. Pottery Barn catalogs, I smite thee! Um, hello…do you not know me at all? PERFECT SHMERFECT! Give me a small, happy little lived in bungalow full of love, personality, and character over perfection anyday. Any. Day.

In fact, this family almost didn’t choose their home as a location-but after meeting them and spending the afternoon at home with them-I can’t imagine any location that could have been more perfect.

Trust me, and let me come over to your house with my camera.

  1. Ohhh, we have the girl version of that puppy. It’s a bunny. And appropriately called “bunny friend” it was once attached to a soft blanket with satin trim. It is well loved by my almost 5yo. My 1yo has her own too, she just tries to grab the french knots (made for eyes) with her teeth. She’s showing a different kind of love.

  2. I would seriously give my right arm to have you come to my house (that I HATE) to take pictures. Ok, make that the left arm since I’m right handed but seriously it’s all yours. Beautiful photos, I am a long time blog reader first time commenter. ;) I absolutely adore your work and your beautiful family!

  3. Your intimate style of photography makes me want to learn how to really take good photos with my Canon Digital Rebel. I know that I need to learn the technical aspects of photography to take good photos and then practice to develope my own style. You are such an amazing artist with your camera. I wish I could afford to have you photograph my family. Thanks for sharing your art on your blog.
