playlists and hotel balconies

so anyways (avoiding the subject of me and my absentee status)

hi. :)

some thoughts on the radio stations in oahu. i kid you not, we heard these songs so often on the radio we would make bets on how many songs would go in between one of them. not many, ill tell you that. (aside from one or two that heather played so much that mckenna now associates them with hawaii, so they were added to the list) the repetition went from mildly irritating, to absolutely impossible to take one more second, to really freaking funny in the matter of two weeks. and now we call this our hawaii playlist and we listen to it all the time. mckenna requested that they be added to her iPod as well.

let me also just say that there are several musicians on this playlist i admit to being sure would never be anywhere near my ipod. with nickelback and colbie caillat at the top of the list. but hey, the heart wants what it wants right jen?

this list includes a song that fills me up inside and i want to share it with EVERYONE. this is a happy, heart in your throat kind of song! heather played it in their house, and i can just hear her belting it out. makes me smile so big. (wish i could embed. its worth the click over, i promise!)

and a scene that made my heart want to pop when i walked around the corner and took it in…our four. on the balcony of the hotel.

  1. So funny…I hear most of these songs daily on either my iPod or on XM radio, I hadn’t heard the elbow song though-it’s very cool and will be added asap!

  2. Now you know why we don’t listen to the radio. Seriously–the repetition is beyond painful. BEYOND! :)
I love that you ‘heart’ my latest happy song.
Sadly, it doesn’t carry the same magic without mckenna singing and dancing with me.
    Sigh.

  3. ah Tara, good choice of song. I saw Elbow play this song live at Glastonbury last year. It had rained up until the moment Guy started this song and the sun set over us as the song played. One of the happiest moments of my life.

  4. 102.7 da bomb? :)
    and they’re still playing ‘low’???
my friends and I were in oahu in march and ‘low’ came on the radio EVERY single time we got in the car.
it was ALWAYS on. every. single. time.
i admit, it made my ‘hawaii’ play list upon my return too :)

  5. Wow Tara – some things must never change! I spent two weeks in Hawaii when I was 13 (27 years ago)…and I can remember so clearly, Loverboy “The Kid is Hot Tonight”, Foreigner “I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl Like You”, and Rod Stewart “Young Turks”…funny, I still love all these songs, but, they sure did see a lot of airtime!

Glad you had a fun relaxing trip with your clan…that’s what it’s really all about!

  6. Isn’t it wonderful when siblings get along-lol. Especially when you don’t even ask them to. Great shot and always a pleasure to browse your great photos.

  7. We visited a few weeks ago, missed you by 3 weeks or we would have rocked a session…darnIT!! If you are going next year, like you have in the past, email me. Anywho, I can’t tell you how many times “I’m Your’s” and “If I Were a Boy” played on our Jeeps one radio station so to see this post has the lols rolling.
