so anyways (avoiding the subject of me and my absentee status)
hi. :)
some thoughts on the radio stations in oahu. i kid you not, we heard these songs so often on the radio we would make bets on how many songs would go in between one of them. not many, ill tell you that. (aside from one or two that heather played so much that mckenna now associates them with hawaii, so they were added to the list) the repetition went from mildly irritating, to absolutely impossible to take one more second, to really freaking funny in the matter of two weeks. and now we call this our hawaii playlist and we listen to it all the time. mckenna requested that they be added to her iPod as well.
let me also just say that there are several musicians on this playlist i admit to being sure would never be anywhere near my ipod. with nickelback and colbie caillat at the top of the list. but hey, the heart wants what it wants right jen?
this list includes a song that fills me up inside and i want to share it with EVERYONE. this is a happy, heart in your throat kind of song! heather played it in their house, and i can just hear her belting it out. makes me smile so big. (wish i could embed. its worth the click over, i promise!)

and a scene that made my heart want to pop when i walked around the corner and took it in…our four. on the balcony of the hotel.
I’m glad you’re back! I missed your posts! BTW what’s wrong with Colbie Caillat ;)
That picture is great..and yeah, the radio here sucks! I don’t know why they have to play the same songs over and over, day after day!!
Glad you’re back!
welcome back!! ..i gave up on radios.. mp3-cds in the car for me :D [“i’m yours” is a cute song though :)] o0 and lovely pic of your family :) happy to hear you guys had fun! <3
Okay, this proves how uncool I am – I only recognize only a few of those artists (The Pretneders, yeah!). So glad your back with your posts!
I’m proud of you for admitting your love for Britney. :) PS. I’m a closet pop music LOVER! It’s the wedding photographer in me :D
yay!! you’re back!! (hopefully for a long run!) you’ve been missed.
So funny…I hear most of these songs daily on either my iPod or on XM radio, I hadn’t heard the elbow song though-it’s very cool and will be added asap!
that elbow song lifted my heart up! i’m smiling too . . . . love love love. glad you’re back. missed you.
Now you know why we don’t listen to the radio. Seriously–the repetition is beyond painful. BEYOND! :)
I love that you ‘heart’ my latest happy song.
Sadly, it doesn’t carry the same magic without mckenna singing and dancing with me.
Sigh.
No judgment on your absenteeism. You have four children for goodness sake. Just glad to see some new photos. Be well…
T, cute pic of the kids… frozen in time, doing their thing. Post more pics soon. I need some inspiration;0)
ah Tara, good choice of song. I saw Elbow play this song live at Glastonbury last year. It had rained up until the moment Guy started this song and the sun set over us as the song played. One of the happiest moments of my life.
Oh, now whats wrong with Nickelback and Colbie Caillat??? I think your just getting old, lol!! Gorgeous image of your beautiful family as well :-)
That is a seriously cool video.. loved it.. gave me a nice smile this morning.. and the image of your kids on teh balcony.. wow.. a dream shot.
t,
i LOVE that photo!!!
if they make my heart melt, i can just imagine
what they must do to yours!!
sweet kids!
tara
you should see Jackson dance to “low”
i forgive him of all of his many shortcomings when I catch him:)
smooch
Awesome song! I’ve played it several times already! Great “feel good” video! :) TFS!
Got goose bumps looking at that picture. Those kind are the best.
I have most of those songs on my ipod also! :)
102.7 da bomb? :)
and they’re still playing ‘low’???
my friends and I were in oahu in march and ‘low’ came on the radio EVERY single time we got in the car.
it was ALWAYS on. every. single. time.
i admit, it made my ‘hawaii’ play list upon my return too :)
Hello darling!
Thanks for the morning up me up youtube video!
I’m guilty of loving “I’m yours”…but jason mraz is pretty much amazing :]
so glad to see you’ve posted. i’ve missed your blog so much.
i’m definately ready to see your opam……..??? i think i typed that right?? your house, and what you’ve done lately to it!!!
have a great monday!
Hi Tara….hope everything is o.k….missed seeing all your cool photos!
found your blog randomly, and couldn’t stop looking through it.
you make people’s heart’s sing with your photography. it’s beautiful.
thank you.
p.s. love that song :)
I’m glad you’re back! ANd any music from the Twilight Soundtrack is FABULOUS!!!
hehee :) Yeah the gems on this playlist are certainly the Elbow track and Pretenders. The rest… Well you know how I feel about the rest. LOL
Your four on the balcony and the Elbow tune made my day!
Most excellent photo. And yep, 1990, MC Hammer ‘U Can’t Touch This’ was our theme song for the trip to Hawaii – so funny, 18+ years ago, and their radio station hasn’t changed.
ha ha on the playlist. and i like so many things about that photo – I like how it is exposed and the bed in the foreground.. LOVE IT.
Wow Tara – some things must never change! I spent two weeks in Hawaii when I was 13 (27 years ago)…and I can remember so clearly, Loverboy “The Kid is Hot Tonight”, Foreigner “I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl Like You”, and Rod Stewart “Young Turks”…funny, I still love all these songs, but, they sure did see a lot of airtime!
Glad you had a fun relaxing trip with your clan…that’s what it’s really all about!
if you love colbie…then you’ve got to check out jason reeves. he co-wrote most of her album, but his new record is amazing. you will thank me when you’re done listening to it. i’m just saying.
my blogging bff kami bigler just sent me this link to you and i’ve been laughing because we experienced the EXACT SAME THING:
http://wordtoyourmother-mindi.blogspot.com/2008/06/hawaii-keeping-apple-bottom-jeans-in.html
we must be kindred spirits.
Isn’t it wonderful when siblings get along-lol. Especially when you don’t even ask them to. Great shot and always a pleasure to browse your great photos.
Love this image, and welcome back! I so wish I could fly away to HI for a few weeks…sounds like a little piece of heaven right now!!!
We visited a few weeks ago, missed you by 3 weeks or we would have rocked a session…darnIT!! If you are going next year, like you have in the past, email me. Anywho, I can’t tell you how many times “I’m Your’s” and “If I Were a Boy” played on our Jeeps one radio station so to see this post has the lols rolling.
