• a beautiful soul •

and a beautiful face.

who i am so proud of today for everything she did for all of us in thailand. she worked, it, OUT! like a total rockstar.

who i am blessed to have in my life.

who makes me laugh and who hugs me and tells me everything will be okay when i cry.

who makes me want to be a better person.

who is having a rough week getting back into the swing of things.

and who i want to make smile.

have a better day today my muse, my friend, my love.

xo

(this was the sisterhood of the traveling dress. i purchased two of these dresses in bangkok, and they were used by almost everyone during their individual photo shoots. my favorite purchases from the trip. the perfect “i feel sexy and relaxed on the beach in thailand” dress.)

  1. Hi. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your blog before but I have been in contact with Em for some time now. She has inspired the little artist in me right out of her stubborn hiding spot. I have emailed her the progression of the art that is just exploding from me, all because I accidentally clicked on a link to her blog looking for something else.
Best mistake ever. Now, my painting is juvenile compared to Em’s, but the important thing is I have started to create again.
Emily is the most incredible person I have never met. I certainly hope one day I can throw my arms around her and thank her in person.

Also, love you photos! Which is why I’m here, typing away. Your friendship is simply beautiful!

  2. I see the strong friendship you have with Em from reading your blog. You two are such great friends and that is such a blessing to have friends like her and you to her. :)

  3. I’m dying to know how you made her GLOW like that. It is gorgeous. Tell me it wasn’t the gorgeous Thailand light and its some secret special action that I too can have for myself?!?!?! Or perhaps she really was just glowing. What a gorgeous image. Thanks for sharing your goodness.

  4. It’s so wonderful you have a friend like this. I too have that “one” friend who just gets me…we’ve been friends since the 3rd grade (we’re in our 30’s), and no matter where our lives take us, we’re always there for each other. Your pictures are beautiful!

  5. you are so blessed to have a friend like that. like emily.
i am finding the older i get what a rare treasure a good good friend can be……

  6. I too LOVE those pics of Emily and am so proud that I too now own one of those travelling dresses… they are so much fun and make me feel so good.
Have to have a giggle when I see that flower though… the photo looks so peaceful and tranquil – who’d have known just minutes previously we were trying to yank it out of the garden without pulling it all out… hahahaha. So many great laughing memories.

  7. em IS gorgeous.
and i know i have said this before, but i so wish i could have met her, and you, and everyone else.
you are lucky to have emily and she lucky to have you.
i envy your friendship, i love that you have it. there is nothing better.

  8. Just wanted to say thank-you for all your beautiful inspiration that you give me, I love how you love the people around you, and everytime I read your words it makes me want to be a better person. Appreciation for the people in our lives is such a valuable thing. So today I plan to spend the day recognizing and thanking all the people in my life who have done things for me and who support me through happiness and sorrow. Afterall who would we be without beautiful souls surrounding us. The portrait of Em with the flower is breathtaking, as are all the others. I tell you I would have loved to have been on that journey with you guys in Thailand….. Take care

  9. I just love looking at all your trip photos and I’m so envious! The light looks very different there – and just incredible. She has such an expressive, beautiful face and you capture it perfectly. Her skin looks like butter in the face-crop shot. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Tara:

I loved reading about your trip. The pictures were great. I’ve enjoyed your blog for many months now. You’re one of the reasons I started my own blog about three weeks ago. I know there’s “more” to the Thailand trip, and I hope you keep posting pictures and stories as the days go by. Great job.

  11. Speechless…I could be right there, the pictures ooze of adventure,spirituality,sensuality…..
I am so happy the trip turned out fullfilling some dreams. You are lucky to experience something that most never get to in a lifetime. Emily you are such a beautiful soul and I am so glad Tara has you in her life!! You both reflect light off one another. And as always Tara you capture the moment so beautifully.
    Love you both!!!

  12. You are a wonderful photographer and it sounds as though you are a wonderful friend! You and Emily are so lucky to have found one another! (I have been reading your blog for years but I have never commented before – today I just had to!)
