  1. Just read it! What a good interview! I checked out Stacey Kane’s website. She is very good, but you know what? I like your work better. Hey, by the way, I am also an extroverted introvert – INFP on the Myers-Briggs test. A marketer who needs to stay home to recoup and not have to exert that emotional energy for a while. Yep. That’s me. I’m happy to have something in common with you, Tara….thanks for the good interview.

  2. tara i loved the article, ah to be lisa, i would love to sit down and chat! while you are in the slc this weekend, let me take you to my favorite little local joint for some really great food! seriously! thanks for the constant inspiration and for being so real.

  3. love the interview. perfectly imperfect. and i loved the lucky star photo’s! she’s definately lucky. and i was 16 when that came out. sad but true.

  4. Hi Tara,
First time commenter here. I have two questions for you regarding your photography, if you are willing to share some secrets – regarding the interview, you noted that you love to use available light, which I do also, but I am wondering is there always the perfect, soft, even light in CA or do you just get lucky and always have your shoots on good days? How do you steer clear of harsh sunlight and crazy shadows – like in the shots of Anna below? It doesn’t look like she was in a shaded area. Also, are you willing to share some of the funny actions or questions that you ask families to get them to relax and be real? I would love the insight. Thanks.

  6. Great interview! I think I am going to look into a photography class. So many issues and questions I have. I love photography….it makes me happy! I can actually “feel” myself getting a happy buzz when I know that is what I am on my way to do. That sounded weird but it’s true. Besides my children I can’t think of anything that makes me feel that good inside! Thanks for doing the interview and now I am off to see if my local college has a class this Summer! Shelley

  7. Loved the article. As a photographer I have been struggling with not wanting to do studio shots. You inspire me by being who you are. I tell clients (I am new so the few I have) that I do not like to shoot in a studio and some love the idea and some do not. This article give me the courage to trust who I am and how I choose to do my photography. Confidence comes from the strangest places. =)
