there are no stupid questions

nathan asked once why the words “made in china” are on so many things.

so i explained it to him, and havent heard anything about it in like a year. until tonight.

he walked up to me, perplexed, holding a toy in his hands and peering at it closely.

“mom.”

“yes.”

why do the china people keep sending all of their toys over here?”

i laughed really hard, out loud and grabbed him in a big hug.

and explained it again.

i am pretty sure the kid thought that if we had all of the toys from china, it meant that the kids in china must not have anything to play with!

  1. You can really see McKenna in him in this pic. I don’t know if it’;s the chin or the teeny freckles – or both. Something just made me think of her, too. :)

  2. This child is simply precious. GORGEOUS! – Inside and out. I love and admire his sweet and contemplative nature. Such a great kid. Does he know that I am one of his biggest fans? He is THE Nate The Great!

  3. What a beautiful boy inside and out. He is wonderful! Great capture!

Today my four year old asked. How do spiders talk to their spider friends… it has me about to google it. I am now concerned the spiders are lonely. Maybe they blog?

  4. What an amazing photo! My daughter just started asking the exact same thing this week when examining her little brothers cars and trains… so that led to a little discussion on globalization and ethics and buying STUFF. I don’t know if she was ready for it. She’s only 6. But I kept it sorta simple! At least I tried. But I love how curious kids are. The questions have been coming at a rapid pace. Thank goodness for the internet for some of them!

  5. wow is he ever gorgeous!
And I love the story of Anna’s journey to Libby Lu. Wait until she gets the ‘rock star’ makeover. I have never seen so much glitter in all my life :) And when they come out and do their dance in spandex outfits, it’s the funniest thing ever.

  6. too cute. my girl said to me the other day, (all wide-eyed and incredulous)….”mom, this toy was made in CHINA! That makes it sooo special…did you know that China is very far away, mom?!”

  7. My daughter at one point also notice that everything said “Made in China” and asked about it and we explained the whole thing to her. After that she kept pointing out everything she grab where it was made. One day she says,
“Mom, was everything made in china?”
    I say, “Yes, except you”
For awhile she would tell everyone, My mom says everything was made in china, except for me. LOL!
