God isn’t it amazing? The fact that they let her come back out on stage to give her speech gave me renewed hope that Hollywood isn’t as bad as it seems.
They are so dang sweet.
She was so adorable. I’m so glad they gave her an opportunity to come back on stage. I absolutely loved that movie and I listen to the soundtrack all the time!
I agree – it was such a sweetly inspiring moment, and Jon Stewart just went up even more in my book!
Such a great movie, too. Especially the music – so real and raw.
I know I just kept whispering to myself..let them win, let them win..and they did! And their speeches were great. I loved the movie and am so glad they got recognized for all their work!
Oh, I just loved that movie! I watched it twice in one week. There’s just something so comforting about them.
Love the movie!! So glad they won over the “bigger” movies, kwim? So deserved!
i TOTALLY agree!!! i just watched it the other day too, and it’s SUCH A GREAT movie…a crying movie, but not a “sad” crying movie…everyone should go a watch it, you WILL love it : )
hey…saw this on the academy awards…but, the video is so real…as are they. will have to watch the movie now. one of the things i noticed first when they were performing was his guitar…lovingly worn…aged…hole-y…both definitions apply here! thanks for sharing…it’s been a while since visiting here…always a such a sweet pleasure.
thanks for this glimpse of beauty and hope
it truly moved and motivatied me today
Oh yeah, I literally yelled out loud in excitment when they won…and again when Jon Stewart had her come back out. Totally dug the Oscars very Indie vibe this year.
gotta go see this now…thanks for the recommendation!
Tara,
That was awesome. Thanks for sharing it here. Nothing like a little inspiration to start a Friday.
omg…i loved this movie, and i play this song over & over again and belt it out at the top of my lungs. it is so great.
I saw it when it happened. I immediately bought the song on iTunes and haven’t been able to stop listening to it. Truly inspiring!
“fairplay to those who dare to dream” – i’ve pinned that to the board in my office so i can see it every day…so poignant.
my favorite movie of the year… and my favorite song of the year… i listen to this song all the live-long day.
just makes you want to dream, man.
Absolutely amazing. I’m so glad they won … and that they let her back on stage to have her moment and to inspire us all.
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy …
i cried my eyes out in the theatre too when I saw that movie. I felt like some kind of weird basket case! Such a beautiful movie and the music just takes you to a deeper place within yourself. I’m glad you posted this.
ditto…they are wonderful old souls with beautiful, haunting music…i get choked-up every time i hear this
Thanks for sharing!
And you can get the whole soundtrack at Target for only $9.99. Run out and get one while you can! Thanks for the links.
It is pretty exciting! I still get goose bumps thinking about it. I always recommend checking out The Frames since Glen Hansard is the lead singer. And for a little dirt they actually were a bit of an item for a bit not sure if they still are but that was the rumor around the block. :-)
Oh my goodness! I have just discovered this movie and soundtrack a few weeks ago, right before the Oscars. Had to run out and buy them both after I rented the movie! So amazingly simplistic and life-like. LOVE it!
thanks for sharing this…I fell asleep before this happened so I missed it. Very moving and inspiring – off to download the song!
uughh! The video won’t play and I have NO idea what this is all about but I am dying to know. Love the song, now I want to know the name of it and the story behind it. And what is the name of the movie? Please fill me in!
One of the best music movies I have ever seen. It makes you want to be creative. Go make ART!
Tara,
i saw that movie about 2 months ago and just loved it, it’s so simple , so moving, sad, but uplifting in some ways.this was a low cost movie, the singers in the movies are real singers.
love to you and your family.
