i was never one to use paint for my scrapbook pages. im too lazy. i thought it had to be a huge production with lots of brushes and cleaning up of brushes. but after watching em paint it made me want to do it too. and i realized anyone can do it if i can! i love the little bits of paint she adds to her layouts-they make everything so personal, so her, so custom made and artsy looking. she totally got me addicted to paint. its so fun to walk around with paint on my hands, letting me pretend i am an artist. and somehow it makes the whole art of creating more for me.

i told her i was going to share the photos i took for her, and she thought it would be cool if i did a giveaway. so, i get to giveaway one free tuition for her class “got paint”, which i think will be so great for anyone who wants to dip their fingers in…i know the lessons i have learned just by watching her have changed what i do. and while her style may not be yours (it isnt mine either, im much more graphic and linear than her) i have always just adapted what she does to fit me.

so, post a comment and ill draw a winner tonight!

she left this little note on my driveway that day, which i love, but im sure my stupid home owners association does not.

  1. Thought I would come out of lurking to say that I am too scared to use paint on my layouts – scared of it not being *just right*, scared of it stuffing up the whole layout……..
So I think I should do Emily’s class………:) Off to go through all her gorgeous work one more time to inspire me to get my hands dirty.

    Sandi :)

  2. I keep talking myself into and out of taking Emily’s BPS class…

I’m a paint chicken too – I don’t even know where to start – so her class is really just what it need…

  3. I’ve been admiring Donna Downey’s painting and time-lapse clips of her art journal lately. Also, I can’t stop searching for art I like on etsy! I’d love to try some painting myself and maybe get past some art intimidation issues. I was about to go purchase some supplies and just start, but it seems that there is at least some proper order to the process that I should learn. Thanks for the chance, Tara!

  4. Love the pictures you took. I saw them on BPS too. I am like you and always felt like painting was a lot of extra work so I think this class would be inspiring.

  5. I have a drawer full of paints that I don’t use at all! I love the colors, they make me happy to see them, but I am too darn lazy to use them. I would love to take that class- I am sure the effect painting gives to a page is worth the effort!

  6. These are great photos! I especially love the one where she’s holding the paintbrushes. I would love to take Emily’s Got Paint class @ BPS… I have tons of paint but have yet to use any of it on a layout. Have a great weekend and holiday!

  7. Love the pictures. What a fun class to learn how to use more paint in my layouts. I would LOVE to win a chance to take this class. What a wonderful Christmas present it would be!!
