sending me your files

i have been doing some research regarding zipping photo files. jpgs are already compressed, so zipping them is not going to make them much smaller (or easier to attach to email). but it is easier to zip your files together to create one file for me to download.

To send me your files: You will need to zip your photographs into one or more folders no larger than 100MB. (please do not send each file one at a time.) If you can’t email that size file, use www.yousendit.com to send them to me.

important: IDENTIFY YOUR FILES WITH YOUR LAST NAME.

also important: NO FLASH PHOTOS.

if you will be using these images strictly for your photo albums or scrapbooks, resize them to 4×6 at 300dpi. if it is something you might enlarge, leave it the original size.

paypal me at: taraboomdeay1@yahoo.com

send files to: taranwhitney@yahoo.com

make sure i have your correct email to get your images back to you.

once i have received your payment and your files i will let you know when you can expect them back in your hands!

if anyone has any ideas on how to make the file transfer easier, let me know!

proof.

  1. A 4×6 300dpi photo means 1800×1200 resolution. Even a hard to compress JPEG at that resolution is still less than 1mb, so the resulting ZIP files should be between 7mb and 15mb for 10 to 20 JPEGs.

  2. philip-the numbers just fly over my head. i wish i could keep facts like that straight. instead ill just trust you. lol

lanne-i havent gotten an email from you….fyi.

sinead-yup-thought of that. no website yet! workin’ on it. :)

  3. love the pictures and love the new “service” you are offering.. am i missing it? i see paypal info and other info but nothing about the prices for the pictures.. i am definitely thinking about sending some over! … once i figure out zip files!! thanks!

  4. you might want to try whalemail.com- it’s a service ($7.50 a month) where you can transfer large files.

i use it for large graphics files (idd, tiffs, and pdfs) when i’m dealing with printers.

  5. Hey, I don’t know if you already came up with a good file transfer solution yet. It’s fairly easy to set up an anonymous ftp server whether you have a mac or a pc. This will allow anyone to send you files of any size. I don’t want to explain it all here, but if you are interested in how to do it … let me know.
p.s. my wife sent me :)
