back home

being in minnesota was in one word – great.

being with cathy in her home, with dan and the kids, just hanging, was comfortable and fun as hell. we didnt do anything. and that was just fine by me. cathy was her usual entertaining self. i love being around her. she had me at hello. dan is a super cool guy, a person you can talk to and be with really easily. cole is the most interesting kid i have ever met. aidan is growing into this sweet young woman, entirely too beautiful for a nine year old, with a personality that cathy should be really proud of. she followed me like a puppy dog and i loved it.

margie came over and we did this: Studio Z interview

we did several mini shoots over the two days i was there. i dont think ill be able to share the shots of cathy for her book, but i will share some i took of her with her kids.

i also made sure that i could do a photo shoot with margies family, outside in the snow in bright stripes and colors. i cant wait to play with those and post them. it was great to see all of the little schershligts personalities and hang out with them. great great kids. great family. i felt right at home with their brood. :)

just checking in, getting back to reality over here. missing minnesota and my friends. but happy with what i have where i am at the same time. i loved MN. loved the stark and cold landscape. loved it.

  1. Glad you had a great time. Nothing like being able to visit great friends in a totally different state (and climate), and then, being able to return home to the ones you love!!

Can’t wait to see Cathy’s book and the work you did! You’ll have to keep us posted on the release date!

So glad you had a fun time ~ now for the de-thawing process.. ha!!

  2. Can you give me advice? I have never been to MN and would like to know the “must see” places there. We are planning vacations now…and I want to include Minnosota. I have NEVER heard anyone say they hated it there…..
Of course, I want to go to Archiver’s at Mall of the Americas, but I want to know from a LOCAL what I shouldn’t miss….

    Much oblige…

So glad you had a fun time ~ now for the “de-thawing” process.. ha!! I’m sure your temps on the West Coast are similar to here on the East Coast (FL). It’s so nice to walk around in shorts and a T-shirt. BUT, I have to admit, I am really longing for some cooler weather right now! It’s bad when you have to turn your AC on in January!

  4. Isn’t Minnesota the best!? I love it there! My sister lives across the street from Cathy… such a cool neighborhood and part of the city.

I love the OC but Minnesota is often on my mind. Great group of scrapbookers too! Glad you had a good time!

  5. After reading that post I want to thank you…because I’m a resident of Minnesota and I appreciate what you had to say about the state. I hope you weren’t joking when you said you loved the cold and stark landscape because it really is beautiful. It’s too bad you didn’t get to see it after a fresh dump of snow. Then it’s spectacular especially when all the bare trees are covered with snow. Every branch and twig. Truly a winter wonderland. The ditch grass (if you travel outside of the cities that far) is frozen and sparkly with icicles.
Anyway, just wanted to make a plug for our beautiful state.

  6. So cool to hear you talk about Minnesota like that! I live in the Twin Cities and we usually get ripped on for the snow and cold. It really is a beautiful state year-round. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! Also, great pictures of Margie and her family in the snow. The white snow really makes the colors more vibrant. Beautiful family.
