  1. Just beautiful Tara! :o)
There’s something about the one with the older child in focus, but everyone is the background is blurred. Really made me stop and look at it. Love the one with the dad kissing baby’s head too. Great catchlights! I love it when shoots come together like that :o)

  2. Absolutely gorgeous!! I myself have an 8 week old and a 4 year old and you’ve just given me some great ideas for some photos of them together. Thanks, as always, for the inspiration!!

  3. that would be my favorite too…it’s almost like you can see so much going on in that expression of hers and she’s so tiny! It seems like she’s saying, “Do you see where I’ve landed? I’m a lucky gal!” Good work!

  8. I know you always get a ton of these questions whenever you post a shot…but can you tell me what lens your using here for such great indoor pics? I’m so fed up with my lens choices, and none of them seem to be getting what I need/want with natural light. (these are with natural light….right?) :)

Anyway. Just wondered if I could be nosy.

    Love, love your work.

  9. This is what is so cool about you- you find your thing, like the heart in the sand…or kids in focus/parents out…but you keep working at it, improving and learning and growing and i’m learning and growing because of you. Love your inspiration? Question about your conversion…sometimes when i use curves it seems to make the picture grainy…does that sound right?

  10. Love it all Tara…is there a certain time of day that you do your indoor shoots? Would also love to know what brand of lenses you use!!! Thanks so much for sharing so freely!!!

  11. I am a big fan of your photos. The one you have on here today as your favorite is incredible! You have such a great eye and style! Thanks for sharing all these great photos with us!

  12. jamie-re: curves: if your photo is dark to begin with, adjusting curves may make it seem grainy (but it is digital noise from the photo)

sarah-i do my home shoots as early in the morning as i can. this one was 9am.

i am all canon. lenses, camera: canon.

karen b-i “met” barb about a year ago or so when i found her photo blog. i also “know” her on photography message board. she and i definitely have the same taste when it comes to our photos. and its not everyone’s cup of tea. so its nice to have someone out there that is a photographer that likes what i do too. you know? :)

  13. Scatterbrained…maybe…but man can you take an amazing picture. Avery’s photoshoot and all of your photos just blow me away. You have such a gift. Thank you so much for sharing it here with us. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this amateur photographer has learned from you.

  14. Tara,

Your photos are truly amazing! You are such an inspiration to all of us. Please keep posting your talent! I was talking to Cathy Zielske at the Washington Expo and telling her I would love to see a book incasing your photos and knowledge….now that you are part of Simple Scrapbooks I am hoping that it comes a reality! It would be a sell-out. If I had photos to scrap like what you take, I would never go to work, I would be locked in my scrapbook room forever! These photos where so awesome and just breath taking. If you ever come to Seattle, I am hiring you in a heartbeat…. Take care.
