tilted horizon

My top shot has a tilted horizon. I could have fixed that in Photoshop, but I thought it added to the quirkiness, which I love. This is one of those times where I decide to go with what I love over what is the norm. That photo is my latest in between, and I also loved the boys running off to the side and the way the reds and yellows really stood out. It is one of my favorites, now, but I think I say that about all of them.

Another family on vacation from Canada, and I took them all around Balboa beach. Julie’s family was one crazy fun bunch – similar in energy to my own four – so I fit right in. No one knows crazy until you’ve been at my house right before dinner.

If you want to see more images from this session, Julie posted some on her blog.

Thanks again, Julie.

  1. So fun!! I didn’t expect to see this when I came to check your blog out…..Julie and I attended a workshop in Seattle where you were the secret guest & is where we met…..and I’ll get to see her again in CA at a retreat….we just realized it. Small world. I’m incredibly envious that they were photographed by you. Such a lucky family :) These are beautiful, Tara.

  2. oh tara! Thank you. My house is a better place because of what you’ve given us. I will have to take some pictures and show you how I’ve displayed your art. My husband tells me that if he had to produce a picture that expressed love, he would show the one of me and heath. Thanks again! xoxo

  3. Beautiful pictures – like always!

I’ve been noticing lately that I am often getting the perspective off. Later when I’m editing I notice that a door frame doesn’t line up parallel with the edge of the picture or the line of a floor isn’t parallel to the bottom of the picture. How much do these things bother you? I’ve been second guessing myself as to whether I should be fixing it or not.

  4. So fun to see these cute familiar little faces posted here. The pics are perfect. I LOVE the b/w one of Julie with Heath. A captured moment like that is so genuine and real. You can see the love he has for his mama in his little face! And of course, Julie is a gorgeous shot no matter what she’s doing!

  5. I am always waiting to see what you will post next. You always amaze me… but that picture of the mom with her son in BW is so real and perfect and moving. I have never posted to your site before but felt that today I needed to tell you how much that picture spoke to me of love and what it means to be a mother. You captured that silent powerful communication between a mother and her child. Perfection. Thank you.
