upper west side

these two are getting married in about a week!
we were supposed to meet up in central park, but there was a 5k going on and it was packed/no parking. we met up near my hotel on the upper west side (77th/broadway). there were a ton of places nearby that were meaningful to both of them, from bagel places to markets and we did it all.

  1. Can’t believe you had them stop in the crosswalk … NYC drivers can be very unforgiving (especially the cab drivers). I’m assuming everyone made it out alive???

  2. Holy wow-these are so fabulous! I lived in NYC for 2 years and for the life of me I caught my breath looking at the one where they were standing in the crosswalk-and I imagined where you must have been standing to get the shot. In the middle of a crazy NYC street. Ahhhh the risks that come with passion. giggle.
    Amazing shots.

  3. LOVE, love, love this shots! Upper West Side makes for a wonderful backdrop and you have captured it beautifully here. Zabar’s and H & H Bagels…..now all we need is Cafe LaLa! Amazing photos….I rarely comment but check religiously here for inspiration! I am so looking forward to the NYC Sessions!

  4. Oh. My. Gawd. These have got to be my favorite shots of yours. The one of them in Zabar’s is AMAZING and the shot of them standing in the middle of the street is impressive to say the least.

Gorgeous, gorgeous work Tara. You are a true artist.

  5. Love the urban stuff!!! I love NY
So I just wanna know how many funny looks you got!!!! Although in NY there is always weird stuff going on!!1 Was the naked cowboy performing in the streets?!?!? He is Hysterical and could have made for a great location!! HEEHEE

  6. hahahaha cracking up over the comments about the shot in the street. YES everyone made it out alive-we worked super fast! red light, started crossing, they stopped for literally five seconds, i snapped like five shots, and we kept going. :)

i am sure we got funny looks-whenever you shoot in public you get people watching-but i dont even pay attention to that anymore-totally get in the zone and done think about anybody but the clients and me.

and thank you! i cant wait to share more from NY-i have five more sessions that ill be working on in the next few days. two more in the city and then three “at home” in new jersey. im itching to get to work on the rest!

  7. OMG, fab-u-lous stuff Tara!! I think some of my favorites of yours, but maybe I’m biased…I live an hour outside of midtown, lol!!! So fun! I wish I could’ve just tagged along with you guys!! Need anyone to help you with your equiptment ; )?????

  8. You are an awesome photographer! It is definitely your gift. I received your Cocoa Daisy kit yesterday and can’t wait to play with it; my head started swirling with inspiration just looking at the stuff. Have a great day!

  9. Hi Tara,

Never did I think for a million years that I would one day go to your website, and see MY photos posted!!

We had such a fabulous time with you. The pics are proof of that. You captured a side of us that is “WOW”, and each time I look at them, I smile from ear to ear. I can’t wait to have them hanging on the walls in our home.

I said it then, and I’ll say it now…You are AMAZING!!!!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hugs to you and yours… Jen & David (only 9 days until the wedding!)

  11. These are awesome, Tara! I have always wanted to go to NYC and see all the things you saw with this couple. How wonderful!

I would like to know one thing, really. It’s a point of much debate these days. Do you shoot in RAW or jpeg? Just curious.

    Thanks!

  12. Hey Tara,

I’m going to NYC to visit my sister next month (upper west side, too!). Did you pick up any travel tips or have recommendations for places I must not miss? Best bagels, best coffee, whatever? :)

    Thanks!
