you know when you get really sick and you’d rather be ANYONE other than you or even better, dead?

yea

that was me this weekend.

felt a sore throat coming on thursday night and thats when the party started.
ive been to the dr three times, had two shots, taken i dont know how many vicodin, and cried i dont know how many tears!

i even called my mom yesterday and sobbed into the phone, ‘i want my moooOOOoooom!”

on friday they thought i had strep throat. on sunday they thought i had an abcess in my throat that needed to be drained. after two high dose antibiotic shots and some prednisone, im better and they have referred me to an ENT.

bad news:
had to cancel two photo shoots with people who dont live here!
missed nathans championship game where he won and his football party
im impossibly behind on emails and work
that whole wanting to die thing

good news:
caught up on sleep and TV
my mom did my laundry (for that, i just might go through this weekend again)

so if you are waiting on an email response from me, im going to work really hard to get caught up today, since im feeling like i can sit up and function a little bit.

  4. Tara, I am SO sorry. I hope you feel much better soon. I feel your pain, although mine has been with my ears. Double ear infection and a sinus infection this past week. I was crying like a baby too. Feel better. =)

  5. Oh Tara, I HATE those times… those times that make you wish you had not taken it for granted when you felt so much better. xoxox

And about your mom doing your laundry? I SO understand. My mom did a couple of loads today while I took my youngest to the doctor. What a GIFT!

  6. GET YOUR TONSILS OUT!!
It was the BEST thing I ever did! Yes, the surgery has a long recovery as an adult. I did it 2 years ago. But I’ve barely been sick since! I used to get sick every 3 months. The last infection I had before my surgery…..my tonsils were bleeding! I too was on a ton of pain meds. I’m sorry you had to go through this. But seriously, go to the ENT and get em out!! You’ll be so glad you did!

  7. Ohhhh, get better soon! We will just have to wait to see Karen Russell’s cutie patootie family a la Tara’s magic!! Heck, a great excuse for us to go to Oregon and visit Ali too!! Did I say “us”?? heehee… Hugs!!

  8. Yikes! I had abcesses on (and inside!) my tonsils years ago. I couldn’t eat, couldn’t drink, lost 20 pounds and had to withdraw from college for a qtr. And that was after 2 ‘drainings’ of them! Not to scare you, but if they act up again, get them out! I got my tonsils removed and have been great since!

Hope you feel much much better!
    xo

  9. Oh you poor thing! I am hoping you are better soon. Sounds AWFUL!
Go your Mom! First thing I do when a friend is sick. Take the children and as much laundry as I can fit in the car. Return when the kids are clean, fed and tired – with a new DVD etc.. and laundry is clean, dry and folded. Sometimes it can take a day or so ;)

  10. yup been there done that. Two years back they had to emergency drain me as my throat was almost completely closed, and then they promptly scheduled me to remove my tonsils. The upside is that since then I have not had to worry about strep at all! Hope you feel better soon!

  11. totally had that happen to me. Tonsil abscessed (sp?) and drained and the fact that it drained was the only thing that kept me out of the hospital. 2 weeks of dire illness before the ENT (to whom I was finally referred) finally found it. Had to do gamma + and gamma – antibiotics (didn’t know they existed) and I even went to the county for STD testing (it was way back in the day) because I was sure I was dying of AIDS in the throat. TOTALLY SUCKS- I am so feeling your pain!

  12. OH, TARA – SO SO SO SORRY that you were so sick this past weekend! And, dare I say, I’m also so sorry that I won’t get to see the K.R. Family photos (gee, do I read blogs much?)!! Drat – I’m sure that they were also disappointed, but your health really DOES come first!! CAN’T WAIT to read your column!! – m.
