This is what the light looks like at 3:20pm in my bedroom this time of year. I often find myself sitting on the edge of my bed, staring off into space into that little golden slice of light reflecting on the glass of the picture frame. It’s right before I get Mckenna off the bus. Right before the kids come home. Right before the third part of my day begins.
Light affects my mood, and I am always at my most content when it looks like this.
I do something similar… all different times throughout the day in different little spots I stop and wonder at the lovely slices of light flooding into this sweet old house :)
LOVE LOVE LOVE this (and everything you post BTW).
I’d do the exact same thing. I just became hypnotized by your golden light.
oh YES….
What you said about light and mood? I get you.
Pretty. :)
Waiting for the Vitamin D test results as we speak…SO unmotivated on dark days…I hear ya!
I’m particularly fond of the way the morning sun fills our room with light, orange or pink or golden. At our old house it was the setting sun’s light that filled our room. Lovely.
light/mood…….so true. Your posts continue to inspire how I look at my world. Thanks.
(wasn’t finished) Love the look of that golden slice! Shall follow your lead and capture that around here for the dark days. ;D
my boss snuck up on me staring at the photo. he stared for a minute too. then he asked if i needed some coffee. “nope. just the corner office.”
I just love this post, Tara! I often sit and watch the light coming through the windows as well. I so can’t wait for spring to come and the long days too.
I love morning light. Not necessarily for pictures, just because.
The glow in the west. Our sunset at 4:44. Makes me a little sad.
love this entry. so peaceful, so zen
then Do. Not. Move. To. Oregon.
That is very interesting to hear. I too am effected by light. I am at my most content with cloudy skies. Bright sunny days do not put me in a “sunny mood”. It actually bums me out a bit!
I hear ya, but my little slice of quiet is between 1:45-2:00.
you read my mind today. it was 3:45 in charlotte and i was on the couch. one kid at a friends and one in the crib. my tree was lit up and no lights on in the house- just the sun starting to go down with that gorgeous light coming into my windows. you are right- pure content. :)
you are going vintageR by the day:) love it!
yes tara, me too…
So very “sighworthy”…yep.
I have been following your blog for a little over a year now, I never really comment, but today I just had to. This very simple post remined me so much of myself. I too, find myself doing this, but it’s the 11am sun that shines in my kitchen window, and if the sink is full of water it makes the most gorgeous “dancing” light reflection on my ceiling. Oh, the simple things in life………….
there is something quite comforting about a certian kind of light that makes your heart sing…
I am not usually affected by levels of light, but time frames get me! And during that 3-4 o’clock time, I’m usually zoning out a little too. :-)
My word for next year is light. This is exactly the sort of things that I’m looking to notice, capture, and breathe in.
you even make a reflection in a picture frame seem magical.
I can definitely relate to this. Those golden moments are just so calming and centering aren’t they? Loved this :)
