one way to spend an afternoon that seems to be dragging on forever

annacookies2

we are totally into the lazy rhythm of summer over here. sleeping in, jammies all day long, video games, family movie time on our big bed, the pool anytime of day – even 9pm – which is a new one for us now that we have some bigger kids. friends coming over, A/C on at night, waking up and staying in bed with a book, lots of drawings and little anna creations floating around, sunsets on the beach, and most importantly?

NO SCHEDULES.

  1. the stuff the most amazing memories are made of….what a wonderfully cool mom you are to not have your kids overscheduled. Sounds very much like the way we lived when my kids were younger, though I have a disability of sleeping late in the mornings….just cannot do it! ( the result of programming by my dad growing up, lol) and summer and baking just seem to go hand in hand around here as well.

  2. I’m a new reader and love your photography but I love even more that you are so relaxed with your kids. That’s how our summers are, no schedules, jammie days and free flowing activities. Kids should be kids and not have to keep a calendar of all their activities. There is plenty of time for that when they get older.

    Thanks for sharing!

  3. sounds and looks exactly like our summer too! we have five and it’s just LAID BACK around here. i think sometimes “we should be getting more done” but i am just as laid back as they are! so we just hang out. and i am loving it.

  4. love LOVE these photos — sounds like our days, minus the pool as we don’t have one…and the sunset on the beach, as we’re in AZ….but other than that! ha!

and where oh WHERE did you get those measuring spoons!! I’ve been looking for some that shape FOREVER. and they’re SO pretty!!!

  5. don’t you just love summer?!
    sounds like my house!
pool, late night movies, reading during the day,
    parks, scooters, sleeping in!
ava slept in til 11:06am today!!! wow. i was shocked!
I do miss my schedule in lots of ways though. it kept me on track with my workouts and now I haven’t worked out in a month!
CUTE CUTE Pix! and for the first time, I saw a little bit of Mckenna in Anna in that top photo!

  6. Tara,

I absolutely love to read your blog and check out your photos. I have many a photo inspired by yours. I live in Southern Indiana. Ran across your website through scrapbooking sources!! Anyway, thanks. I posted on my blog today some pictures from our local 4th of July carnival. I was taking some (very amateur) photos for a friend at our park and we asked the carnival people if we could sit in some of the rides. I instantly thought of you after I took these. Very candid. The post is called “Shh, Don’t Tell,” if you have time to check it out!. Again, thanks!

  7. Love your pics – I see in the last comment section it says you are coming to Toronto – is that true? I would love to know when if it is true.

  8. if only it would be a bit cooler and rain! then I would be able to be surrounded by cookie dough and my kids……I love those photos because they are so familiar….

it’s very nice to meet you~ and your photography is clearly an excellent talent of yours

  9. Oh my goodness… your baby is growing up. I’m a long time reader and she has blossomed before our eyes.

Hope your summer is enjoyable and brings YOU sunshine!

    Cheers

  10. summer is the best!!! although, I smelled a candle today at B&B that is Christmas tree scented and I must say, it was delightful. It is over 100 degrees in Houston right now, actual temp. And not to mention I will have a newborn in Dec. Crazy and good.
