we are totally into the lazy rhythm of summer over here. sleeping in, jammies all day long, video games, family movie time on our big bed, the pool anytime of day – even 9pm – which is a new one for us now that we have some bigger kids. friends coming over, A/C on at night, waking up and staying in bed with a book, lots of drawings and little anna creations floating around, sunsets on the beach, and most importantly?
NO SCHEDULES.
answer to questions in comments:

Nothing like whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies, either! Ciao!
I love summer! :)
lovely idea to bake out of boredom!
Amen. Love this post. And YUMMO. That dough looks delish.
yay summer!
I love these shots, the colours are fab! I have to ask did you pick the red glass on purpose? We spent the day in our jammies too – winter here and my two are little enough to still be at home – love those days!
no schedules
sleeping with the windows opened
cold beer – hanging on the deck.
love summer. love your view.
Don’t cha just LOVE summer!
the stuff the most amazing memories are made of….what a wonderfully cool mom you are to not have your kids overscheduled. Sounds very much like the way we lived when my kids were younger, though I have a disability of sleeping late in the mornings….just cannot do it! ( the result of programming by my dad growing up, lol) and summer and baking just seem to go hand in hand around here as well.
I’m a new reader and love your photography but I love even more that you are so relaxed with your kids. That’s how our summers are, no schedules, jammie days and free flowing activities. Kids should be kids and not have to keep a calendar of all their activities. There is plenty of time for that when they get older.
Thanks for sharing!
your chef is adorable! enjoying the non-schedule around here, too.
Summer is the BEST! so many great memories to make with your little ones!! LOVE Anna’s little dress!! :)

Sigh…..what I’d give for no schedules right now…Soccer camp for the older one and a 1 yr old not letting me just lay in bed w/ a book…one of these days tho-one of these days…:)

i just came home from my parent’s farm in tropical paradise (no really, it is – check it out http://www.crystalbrookretreat.com)… back home to our little place in the alpine mountains that is in the depths of winter. i think we need a chorus of boooooooo’s! so yars… adoring you, your family and your summertime post… feeling all warm again :)
I just one-clicked and got the last Zak Design spoons. oops. sorry, girls. . . don’t worry, when Amazon so aptly encouraged me to buy that last one, they promised more were on the way. . .
Photography questions: are you using your 50mm in these pics? And, how-oh-how do you always get proper exposure with highly back-lit subjects? You are amazing!
Tara,
I absolutely love to read your blog and check out your photos. I have many a photo inspired by yours. I live in Southern Indiana. Ran across your website through scrapbooking sources!! Anyway, thanks. I posted on my blog today some pictures from our local 4th of July carnival. I was taking some (very amateur) photos for a friend at our park and we asked the carnival people if we could sit in some of the rides. I instantly thought of you after I took these. Very candid. The post is called “Shh, Don’t Tell,” if you have time to check it out!. Again, thanks!
Amy
love it! sounds exactly like my house this summer! can’t imagine it any other way!
Love your pics – I see in the last comment section it says you are coming to Toronto – is that true? I would love to know when if it is true.
Oh yummmy! I only wish that I could bake cookies…having no oven is no fun! Always LOVE your pictures…your truly amazing!
Oh my little guy and I make Cookies all the time to pass the afternoon! and best part? of course eating the dough :)
Oh, I love this post! I am coming over to visit via Ms. Booshay’s link on Pioneer Woman. Your pictures are delightful! And I also love your mommy style.
Looks like a really nice, memory making time. But how does your daughter already have that confident, easy gorgeousness at such a young age?? She is so dang cute.
if only it would be a bit cooler and rain! then I would be able to be surrounded by cookie dough and my kids……I love those photos because they are so familiar….
it’s very nice to meet you~ and your photography is clearly an excellent talent of yours
Oh my goodness… your baby is growing up. I’m a long time reader and she has blossomed before our eyes.
Hope your summer is enjoyable and brings YOU sunshine!
Cheers

summer is the best!!! although, I smelled a candle today at B&B that is Christmas tree scented and I must say, it was delightful. It is over 100 degrees in Houston right now, actual temp. And not to mention I will have a newborn in Dec. Crazy and good.
