about this book:

This is an 80 page full color book that covers all the basics of digital photography in simple, easy to understand language. I cover everything from shutter speed, aperture, ISO to focal length. I also cover such topics as all the steps I took to launch my successful photography business as well as tips on juggling motherhood and running your own business. I talk about the big stuff and all the nitty gritty details that no one tells you about! I also delve into tricks of the trade for photographing pregnancy and newborns, including little known secrets that will save you time and money! This is four years worth of experience that can help you avoid some simple mistakes I made and get right to the good stuff! This book is just as valuable as a beginner photography course book whether or not you plan on launching your own photography business down the road. Most photography manuals are incomprehensible when it comes to the technical side. This is the book that I wish had been out there when I was learning everything from scratch by myself. It is full of my own original photographs to help illustrate the concept behind the lesson including examples of the different effects you get when applying various techniques. Everything is clear and simple. A great book for anyone wanting to know how to use all those settings and buttons on their camera as well as someone ready to take the plunge into the Child/Family portrait photography business!

today she is giving away one copy to one of you!

  1. I thought taking a picture was going to be so easy, especially with a more expensive camera, but I have learned, the hard way, that this is not the case. I need all the help I can get!! Please take pity on me! Thank you!

  2. I would love to win a book. Also I haven’t had a chance to comment before, but wanted to let you know I love your photography and your blog. My dream is to someday book you for a photoshoot :)

  3. I am one of those creepy blog stalkers that reads every single post, but never comments, so you don’t know that I exist. Welp! This little giveaway brought me out of the creepy shadows and now I’m boldly commenting that I would LOVE to have this book. I have been VERY SLOWLY trying to start a photography business for about 6 months now and I think this book would be VERY helpful!

  4. Thanks for the preview of this. I may have to just buy a copy! I’ve been looking for a book like this. It’s a pet peeve of mine when photographers try to keep everything they’ve learned a secret. I’m all about sharing my secrets with friends, family… other photographers. (not that I really have many. I’m just starting out).

  5. This book sounds like the EXACT book I am looking for! I’ve been trying to find a little guidance, but all the books I’ve found in the library (and unfortunately there aren’t many) just don’t quite provide me with the information I need! Cannot wait to read all your tips and photography insights!!

  6. Gosh, your medical ordeal just had me feeling so bad for you. I hope that you are feeling better. If I was there I certainly wished I could have come over to help you out. I know how it is on days like that when you are sick and things are not going good with everything else. Hugs to you! Feel better soon.

This would be an awesome book to win. If I could take pictures even half as good as you I would certainly walk just a little taller. Great offering!

  7. This book looks amazing, and I would love to win it. I am just starting out, therefore this book would be extremely helpful. Thanks for the opportunity to win one. Love your blog Tara, faithful reader here for life :-)

  8. Hi Tara!
How fortuitous! I have been doing gratis shoots for my friends and family to build my portfolio. I am surprised how hard it is to ask for what I want in shoots for my friends. It’s a tough situation! You don’t want to ask them to do anything for you because you’re not getting paid, but the quality of the composition suffers! A beautiful book I would be honored to win! Thanks!

  9. Sure I will have paid a couple-hundred thousand dollars to become a doctor, but I think photography may be my true calling. This book would be helpful as I dip my toes into pursuing photography as a business and career rather than a creative outlet.
