about this book:

This is an 80 page full color book that covers all the basics of digital photography in simple, easy to understand language. I cover everything from shutter speed, aperture, ISO to focal length. I also cover such topics as all the steps I took to launch my successful photography business as well as tips on juggling motherhood and running your own business. I talk about the big stuff and all the nitty gritty details that no one tells you about! I also delve into tricks of the trade for photographing pregnancy and newborns, including little known secrets that will save you time and money! This is four years worth of experience that can help you avoid some simple mistakes I made and get right to the good stuff! This book is just as valuable as a beginner photography course book whether or not you plan on launching your own photography business down the road. Most photography manuals are incomprehensible when it comes to the technical side. This is the book that I wish had been out there when I was learning everything from scratch by myself. It is full of my own original photographs to help illustrate the concept behind the lesson including examples of the different effects you get when applying various techniques. Everything is clear and simple. A great book for anyone wanting to know how to use all those settings and buttons on their camera as well as someone ready to take the plunge into the Child/Family portrait photography business!

today she is giving away one copy to one of you!

  2. Oh please, this is just what I need right now! Tara, hope you’re feeling better — my 2 yr old twins got the flu yesterday & I could just cry! Here’s to health!

  3. Hello, Tara, from Utah! I have truly enjoyed following your blog and especially looking at your photos. Your portrait style is what I aspire to achieve (with my own personal twist, of course!). I would LOVE to win this copy of your book and learn from someone I truly admire. : )

  4. HOLY COW. 544 comments! HOW will you ever choose? Tara, did you know that this many people watch your blog? What an honor! YOU GO GIRL!! Love your photography, I am a blog addict and I check yours everyday! I guess I am one among….a few hundred! :) keep up the good work!!

  5. Oh please please please pick me pick me!!!! This book is RIGHT up my alley as I was thinking about trying to do some photography on the side to earn some extra money… (and my pipe dream is to turn it into a full time gig) Heck if anything, it will teach me how to take better photos of my friends and family.

  6. I think it takes a special person to bare themselves in a book. More so one willing to reach out and help other photographers develop their craft & passion. Congratulations to your friend on what looks like a beautiful book and to you for sharing your beautiful images with people like myself.

Isn’t it funny how the wonderful-ness of children bring out the desire in us to capture beautiful moments. So many people’s passion for photography is ignited through their attemtps at preserving every little detail of their little loved ones. I’m sure this book is going to be a very useful guide for lots of people.

    Thanks again

  7. I live in Australia so am not sure if this makes me eligible to win but I’ll give it a go anyway! what a fantastic book, Pascale’s work is just beautiful and I can’t tell you how encouraging and inspiring it is to know that she is self taught – this gives me hope yet for someone taking a leap of faith to start their own photography business this year, with no formal ‘qualifications’. This book looks like it is perfect for someone starting out, what a wonderful person you are for sharing your hard worked for knowledge! Goodluck to everyone with this competition – looks like Pascale will have plenty of new customers after such massive exposure on your awesome blog Tara! :)
