okay i promise. ill go christmas shopping. ill get the tree. ill pull out the decorations. just give me a few more weeks. i can get it done.
i am SUPER bah humbug about christmas this year. i wish i could just be like, “umm whitneys for christmas? PASS! we just had christmas, and its coming again next year, so we are good. no, really. we are totally cool with it.”
but ive got four votes against me, so im doing my best to rally for the troops.
this morning ive been going over some of my favorites on etsy, thought i would share some things ive purchased or plan to.
first up, for the girl who might like a pop of vintage on her ears, these adorable studs. my friend kelly sent these to me awhile ago and i lerrrrrve them.
a really swell handbag by moop. i have this and it holds all of my stuff from stuffed animals to chapstick. its amazing.
for the quilter or lover of quilts (me), quilted mama cuffs from jcasa.
totally practical and totally awesome. i couldnt live without mine. car catch-alls from zooziis. seen here on my blog.
i can just imagine these glowbowls hanging in my bedroom.
i do not have cats, nor do i like cats, but this cat is pretty cute. so are these.
this print by cathy nichols really makes me smile. i can heir beirut playing…
also, she opened up an etsy shop. lucky us.
some other things (non-etsy) that ive taken note of lately…
this book, and the video about it have intrigued me for days.
i know its kind of nerdy, but i love having san francisco reminders in my house. santa can bring this to me if he wants.
for those long minnesota winters….sun in a jar.
thinking of using this image in my christmas card this year.
all right, now back to scrooge.
I LOVE the Elly Nelly decals. Ben has one in his room. Here it is: http://www.adventuresoflazygirl.com/2008/04/decoration.html
I love the glowbowls! They are fantastic. I also love the car catch all, I suppose if I had one I would not have misplaced my mobile phone… Thanks for all the cool ideas!
I love that poster!
I’m a little on the scroogey side myself!
love the earrings!! and yes the winters are LOOOONG here in MN
Funny enough, I came across the Cathy Nichols prints the other day, and I thought about you. Probably because her pictures have that big burst of color yumminess that your pictures have…Love those quilted cuffs too!
My personal Etsy shopper who finds all things good on Etsy. :-) Still have yet to get the wall sticky goodness… I will at some point.
Those earrings are awesome. And everything Cathy Nichols does rocks.
I sooooooooooo hear you about Christmas. Can’t we moms just run away to our own Scrooge Island until after it’s over?
tara, you are killing me. but thank you for the cat vinyl thing. i have been looking for one for cat’s room for a while now. i also know about feeling very scrooge-like. yesterday i was done with it all (almost). thank you for all the suggestions. alison
i still don’t believe that christmas is this month i think we just being teased. i am SO not excited either. haven’t bought a single gift and i don’t want to. bah humbug indeed.
i agree ~thanks for the little shopping trip with out having to get up~goodnight
Your blog must be super popular! Two of the three things I went to check out on Etsy (car catch-all and cat stuff) sold out today! :o) You sent them over the edge! Bet they’re cheering!
t… totally feelin’ you with the non-shopping thing. I think it’s more of a denial thing for me. What… ahhh it’s really DECEMBER??? Looks like you’ve had some serious computer time on your hands. nice. I keep telling myself that some great sale will tempt me into the stores… so not excited… but us mom’s put on the face and the pretty bows… and reap our reward in smiles on Christmas morning. Now do one of these kind of blog entries about what your kids want… I need ideas ;o)
I too am an etsy junkie — it’s like hitting the flea markets without the crowd!
i’m with you. but my wife is against me. so, every year, i back down and move over to her side. good luck.
Fun, fun list, Tara! Looks like you made most of those etsy shops sell out. :) You always have the best finds.
Me too! I can’t get into the spirit this year. I finally got my tree up. Actually, I went and bought a new tree that was only 3 pieces with the lights already attached. Lame I know. Started shopping yesterday for my extended family that lives out of state but haven’t even started on Santa stuff. Oye! Did December come earlier this year? Sure feels like it. I feel like having a Merry Margarita party and blowing everything else off. : ) Maybe next year we can all plan a destination Christmas. Christmas in Cabo sure sounds nice. Good luck (to all of us)!
Not feeling it this year. It may because there is barely a skiff of snow or it could be I am justa big old grump…either way, not too into it…and my four freak when I suggest skipping it as well.
seriously…how did you get so cool???
i’m totally with you on that. i am so not into christmas this year. my husband is deployed so that’s part of it and if it weren’t for my kids, there would be no tree or decorations. is that awful?
just not in the mood this year.
those cute earrings are sold out!…grrr…darn me & my not being online 24/7! :)…great stuff you highlighted…& i think it’s okay to be scroogie just as long as the kids get their presents…hang in there, who knows? you might just come around:)
My Christmas wish is simple this year…to do someday have my family photographed by you! I’ve said it a million times over again and again. So if I win the lottery…I’ll fly to you or I’ll wish that by some crazy chance…fate brings you to St.Louis!LOL
I wanted to share something that I’ve poured my heart into lately and I’ve had a wonderful response too…
http://www.buzybunny.etsy.com
I would absolutely love to send you one…because they make me smile..and we need lots of smiles!
If you’re not uncomfortable..do email me and let me know if there’s one that catches your eye! :-)
I seldom post on blogs, even those I follow pretty regularly, like yours. But… this post gave me some of the best ideas of things I’d never have found or thought about for gifts. You may feel like scrooge, but you just made my shopping a lot easier.
oh i love kelly mccaleb’s party ring … and those earrings are so cute.
Thanks for sharing your Etsy findings! I think I’ll have to post some of my favorites on my blog. I love that site!
tish, thats awesome. im so glad. thanks!
You are amazing. Your photography is such a blessing. I love to look at your website. It excites me and reminds me that live is what you make it. Thank you. Natalie Waddell
