this is one of my personal favorite sessions from the year. there is just something about this group of four that seeps into their photos and comes across to me.
its raining here today and i am in heaven because as you well know, i love the rain.
peace guys.
enjoy your weekend.
i love. love. love. this session of yours. great looking family. great color. great. happy weekend to you too!
oh envy.
I want boys.
I want simple.
I want freckles.
I want peace.
my life’s wishes. lucky though, I get to live vicariously through yours and so many other great artists’ work out there. Thank you for always sharing you amazing talent.
oh…yes..these are great. luv them.
Oh wow, these are amazing. The one with the 4 of them with the boat in the background? I would blow that up and plaster my house with that picture, just so perfect.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
My father lives in Newport Beach (actually on the penninsula near the Fun Zone) and I’ve been missing it like mad lately. He sent me the web site of a guy who has a camera on his roof that takes pictures every hour of the Newport Pier. I’ve been looking at them over and over wishing I was there instead of Massachusetts.
I can totally understand how you feel about living closer to the ocean. I would love to live in Southern California near the beach, with lots of palm trees in a little stucco house with a tile roof. That would be my dream.

i love these. love that boat. love the shirt mom is wearing. love everything. just spoke to my dad who said it’s raining there as well. enjoy.
I like how you put the description after the pictures. I was thinking the same things. Plus, one more. Cozy.
LOVE the colors and pp you use.
I LOOOOVE the fourth picture…the expressions on their faces is pricless.
realy so wonderful…i love the ones with the boys hugging theri parents…it looks so right & natural not posed at all…such a sweet family
Okay…give it up! What do you say/do to get those faces, those expressions? Help!
love the picture of the boys and the boat……love the blues…Tanya
thanks all!!! xoxox
sue-that was ALLLLLL them. these two were full of personality – i hardly had to work at all to photograph them.
and the boat-there is a fish market right at the pier in newport beach. this was saturday morning, or was it sunday? and the boats just come right onto shore to bring their fish to the market. i lucked out with this gorgeous blue one hey?
I love them! The boys by the boat and the couple under the pier especially! I was going to ask about the expressions, also – we tried to do a little shoot of our kids yesterday and dh & I were just exasperated with the cheesy smiles. We were limited on time (light) so that was probably part of the problem. I did get a cute shot of their little legs & shoes dangling on the brick wall they were sitting on – never would have thought of that without looking at your fun stuff! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Tara,
I have a really good friend who I use to Model with when I was younger and I gave her your information. She is looking for someone to do family photos. she just had her 3rd baby at age 42 3 mo ago.
Her name is Karen and she will tell you I sent her.
I love your work girl. You do such wonderful work. You have made a great name for yourself.
Jill Knapp
Can I put your information on my web pages?

These are great shots. Everything just clicks! The family has to be so excited about the results.
I check your blog everyday and never comment, but I had to this time. I LOVE these pictures, my favorites. I love the blues, and the one of the boys and the boat… WOW
hi Tara,
getting ready to shoot our christmas shot, boy do i wish you were in my back yard this weekend.
LOVE the shot of the boys and the boat, sooooo cool, and the shot of alex, you work that camera so smooth.
smiles,
helle
Those smiles in the first image are fabulous!
I am totally in love with these. I did some similar to these in Downtown Dallas, texas.
You can see these at my typepad!
wow what a huge compliment to be your favorite session. but what you said totally comes through in these pictures tara. my favorite is the two boys and the boat.
WOW…thats it. WOW.
Oh I love the rain too! And these photos!!!! AWESOME! You are spectacular! Wish I lived close enough for you to photograph my family!
Totally can feel that cool, simplistic feeling from just looking at the mom and dad, I love , love that personality type, it’s just oozing from them- just gives me warm fuzzies!
one of my favorites too.
Wow, as a Mum to four boys I’ve gtta say you have captured ‘boy’ perfectly, wish you visited here(Australia) more often, love what you do with your camera and your words. Thought I was the only person who rejoiced in the rain, most people I know scurry out of its way. It is so cleansing, I love it and wind from the sea so cool and fresh you can’t breath it you have to gulp it down.
All gorgeous as usual, T! Hey, you should move to England – we get LOTS of rain LOL Unfortunately, we don’t get the gorgeous light you get, or at least not as much of it. The northern light is harder…
i really enjoyed this pictures!
These are so good – some of my faves from you as well. you are so gifted!
Tara…again love ’em! You sure did luck out with that blue boat, fantastic color.
definitely one of my fav shoots of yours as of late! :-)
that boat rocks!!! no pun intended.
Okay, I have kind of a technical question. Do you use photoshop, and when you give your clients their cd of digital prints, what size are the images? Do you save them in different sizes, so they can print different sizes…or do you just give them the images as your camera takes them? What dpi do you save/print your photos? And if you don’t save them in several different sizes, do they get cropped funny when they try to print them in a different size than they were taken in? Does that make sense? I’m sure you get a million random questions from a million different people. Thanks for reading my ramblings.
Love the name written in the sand!!
Gorgeous session! Your colors are just as magical as the moments you captured.
what a gorgeous family. you captured them beautifully!
I am a total lurker on your blog because I love your creativity. I, too, never comment but had to this time. LOVE LOVE LOVE these photos. Well Done!!!!
Your rain has finally arrived up here in the north. A few days later…
I love these photos – especially the boat, Alex laughing (his name in the sand), and the couple shot at the end. So much love there.
Someday I’m going to hire you to take pictures of me.
NYC was great, too – thanks for the tips you sent!
OH WOW! These are some of your best photos Tara, simply stunning.
