okay so i’ve been able to get the girls rooms set up since the loft addition was finished on our house. my “office/crafty area” is set up too, but not decorated-i have to hang some stuff up before i take “finished product” photos. but i will, probably in late november/early december when i scheduled “no work time”. thats enough quotes, jeez.
there is something about a room coming together that i thrive off of. i LOVE the mix of colors, patterns, creating vignettes of fun little things. my entire house is based around the “does it make me happy” concept. (more quotes, sorry) at times i feel like the whole house looks like a childs version of what a grown up house should look like-its definitely casual and kid friendly!
it has been really nice to seperate the girls things into two rooms. i cant believe how much stuff we had shoved into one tiny 10×10 bedroom. they still share a dresser, a dresser that stayed in anna’s room. but all of their STUFF is happily in its own place. i loved being able to personalize each room, and finally use some of the things ive had stored in closets, waiting for this time to come.
so this is anna’s room-i found this bedding at delias.com, love the apple theme. a is for apples-and anna.
this is a window i found at an antique store in downtown orange. i strung twine and added clothespins so anna could hang her favorite things. right now she has artwork from ivy, and some paper lanterns i bought at paris to the moon.
her dresser, proudly topped with a handmade piece of art made by karen buckle. a lovely australian woman who gifted this canvas to me after i expressed how much i loved it. (she now sells prints of this design on etsy) i did not expect such an extravagant gesture-it is something i will remember always. and this painting definitely MAKES ME HAPPY.
and the dream banner, given to me by a sweet sweet client who knew i wanted one. again, never expected it and just ADORE it because of how it came to be mine.
and mckenna’s room.
bed purchased on craigslist for a mere $125. bookshelf found at big lots for $50. always on the hunt for a bargain! i wallpapered the inside with wrapping paper from old navy. quilt from urban outfitters.
artwork on the wall from the black apple, an artist selling on etsy. i have several of her prints in my house.
finally a nightstand all her own for her catalogs, lotion, alarm clock, and nightlight from ikea.
im sitting here and anna is sitting on the table next to me, her feet on my arms as i type and her fingers on my fingers. i think she is trying to tell me to get up.
Love that Black Apple set of prints. It’s one I want to buy myself.
What lovely rooms, Tara! They do in fact look like a page right out of the pottery barn mag I just got in the mail. I noticed that dream banner in there, but no where to purchase it. Want to share where it came from? I’d love to get one for my granddaughter’s room.
Thanks for sharing. Loved the peek into your home. You are so creative!
Fun! Fun! Now you’ve gone and inspired me to finish the work I’ve started in my daughter’s room! It’s all painted, but I just need to stamp butterflies on the walls and put up the curtains etc!
The girls rooms are filled with so much love. I love, love love the big close ups you have of them. Those are awesome. As for the rooms themselves, they look so inviting and very expressive of each of their personalities. Isn’t decorating fun. The thrill of the hunt is half the fun.
They look so awesome! So simple! Love it!
the rooms are SO GORGEOUSLY PRETTY!!!
