jersey

i have my last trip planned for this weekend up north in san francisco-my absolute favorite city in the world. my sister karissa is flying with me. for company, for fun.

tomorrow will surely be a busy day, the day before i leave always is, and its also drew’s tenth birthday, so i wanted to put up a sampling from my new jersey sessions before i go. and then the blog will be back to regularly scheduled programming once i get back.

let me just say, new jersey wasnt anything that i expected. i dont know what i expected-industrial i guess. menacing? but it was one of the most quaint and beautiful places. i enjoyed so much the three clients that hired me from this area. two of them were friends/neighbors. and i brought the third into the group and now they meet for coffee!

  1. NJ always gets a bad rap… I wouldn’t live anywhere else. : ) Glad you got to see what it’s really like!

Thank you for sharing your photos, I always enjoy seeing them.

  3. So glad you loved New Jersey – which is where I live now. When people where I’m originally from (Long Island) ask me why I moved to “ugly New Jersey”, I tell them “if you think it’s ugly, you’ve never been west of the NJ Tpke”…lol. Sometimes I’ll be driving in to work in the morning through the gorgeous mountains and lakes, and after three years of living in the beautiful Ramapo Mtn region, I will still exclaim out loud in my car, “I can’t believe I live here”…

  4. I have driven through new jersey before, and I can remember thinking how pretty and completely different than I expected!

I love your work, Tara, you are a superstar at catching that *moment* in that family’s life… to be treasured forever.

  5. Tara, I’ve been reading your blog for years and I’ve never commented because you have SOOO many readers and SOOOO many comments all the time. I’m a classical musician, a music teacher when I’m not taking care of my gaggle of preschoolers, and I must say that the piano picture, is THE best picture I’ve maybe ever seen. I love LOVE everything about it! The perspective, the angle, the dark tones, how the pianist is gently obscured . . . I wish it were me in the picture! (Or that at least I’d been brilliant enough to think of taking the picture from that angle,)

  6. My husband is from New Jersey, and I agree it wasn’t what I expected either. It’s very beautiful actually. He hasn’t been home in almost four years now, and I know he misses it.

  7. Tara!
That one picture with the couple in the road just brought me some “inside happies” as my husband and I when we were dating used to sit in the middle of the road and make out… so funny to see a pic of two people in the middle of a road… that just rocks!

  8. Beautiful pictures as always.

Diana mentioned to me that you are out there close to where the fires are. I just wanted to say I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. What a sad thing for all those people to have to be evacuated. I guess it beats the alternative though.

    Be well, and take care.

  9. A little birdy told me it was your birthday! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA from an admirer in Canada! Thanks for your blog and pictures and the smiles they bring. I hope you have a day filled with giggles, kisses and hugs! (and some fun prezzies too!)
    All the best,
    Caro
