thanks for all the compliments on the new banner-that was an idea i had while at the seattle center with one of my seattle families, the sewells. mom is shannon sewell, photographer and hottie boombalottie extraordinaire.
shannon’s photography style is so inspiring to me-she finds things-and turns them into a session. a hat, a stool, a location, a pair of boots…or a dress….
as we were setting this up i kept thinking please dont die, dont break an ankle, dont crush the kids
the shot taken just after the one in the banner
lots of fun stuff in this area
when shannon linked me to the dress she wanted to get for our session i emailed back YES YES YES. love that she wanted to do something funky, different from my typical family session. makes me want to do something like this again soon.
i also added a new sidebar item “in my bag”. i tend to get at least one or two emails a week asking what equipment i use, etc…i dont know why i didnt do it sooner!
steppin’ over on the bench—fave!
eating junk food in a hot dress, she rocks! my kinda mom :)
i heart your work girl, thanks for the inspo! :)

WOW WOW WOW. Your talent continues to blow me away! Wonderful!
oh my gosh I was right there just days before you and took pics there, of the south stand thing and the rods and the ticket booth, too funny.
wow. these are so amazingly HAPPY and cool. LOVE the banner. Love this family! Your photos are PURE MAGIC. TFS
Wow. Amazing. Fabulous.
I love your work. I wish I knew you! You seem to be so fun! So real!
i love all the color in these pics. i know i told you already but the banner is my absolute favorite. this totally looks like a fun shoot. gorgeous family.
these shots are a thrill!! must have been fun :)
I love the one with the parents holding hands. The little girl with her foot in the foreground is adorable too. These are all really nice. I’m sure the family loves them!
gorgeous shoot T!!
Is that little rascal looking up mom’s dress!!! Crack me up!! Love theses!!! The family is beautiful!!!
These are SOOOOOOO COOL, Tara!
I guess I have to come out of hiding for this one. I am Shannon’s friend and I just heard that I finally get to meet you in San Diego in October. I am so stoked to get together! Oh, and these shots…they make me happy, they make me laugh, and they just plain rock! Kathy
Love how all of the colors mesh in the photos but don’t match. Very cool. I have the same red shoes. They make me feel how she looks – SASSY!
Look at these guys!! I think I was technically Shannon’s first client, so, needless to say, I know her. I tell her how cute her kids are and that that they are just the most beautiful family. But, wow. How hot are they here?!? I loved your session with them in CA, but this one blows away that one. I don’t think I’m being biased, but this is one of your most innovative, creative sessions I’ve seen. It’s really the ultimate contrast: the gorgeous family at the seedy carnival.

totally loving this, makes me want to go to the center now!! I was just playing skeeball last month there :)
What a fun photoshoot! Those pictures rock.
Wow!!!!! These are probably the best family pictures I’ve seen in a while! So fun!!!! And what a good looking family to boot!
Absolutely stunning. Your work astounds me, Tara.
Absolutely stunning. Your work astounds me, Tara.
WOW!! seriously… WOW! I totally want to follow you around for a day, a week, a month! Hey, that should be your next big thing… “follow tara around for a day”!!! jk.. but seriously, you’re so inspiring. As a mom to a three under three, it sometimes seems as though dreams, can’t come true, but everytime I look at your work, it reminds me that not only are they true, they’re real, and their right there are your fingertips! Thanks for sharing and thanks for always being soooo inspiring!
p.s. if you ever did do “foloow tara around for a day on a shoot”, or if you’re ever in dallas… PICK ME! PICK ME! jk… but not really….
Toni
LOVE LOVE LOVE these pics! Absolutely amazing! You inspire me!
I LOVE THESE !! … Shannon your family is gorgeous …. this is so cool … If I could only see the work of 2 photographers for the rest of my life it would be these 2 girls … so fun to see the combination !!
fabuless!! they look so happy and fun :)
These are so fun! One of my goals to have you photograph my family!
love these! so much fun! so vibrant! so many unique memories!
Love the photos. Isn’t Seattle great?! Thanks for giving us a peak into your bag. I’m going to be purchasing the 17-40 f4L (hoping for a Canon fall rebate next month.) Would that lens be good for photographing large groups? I’m doing “team photos” for a large charity event next year and am trying to figure out the best lens for that.
What a great session!
They are so inspiring.
THIS SESSION ROCKED…I am sooo in love with your style.
OMG I think I have to go with the comment consensus on this one – LOVE this session!! That has to be one of the cutest families ever. And gotta love their style. :) And the new banner kicks serious behind.
so much fun and the colors are amazing!
LOVE!
When I saw that banner, literally goosebumps and tears flowed. Someday…someday I swear something like that will flow through my head! LOVED it Tara…love you!
OH!!! If I had those legs I’d be jumping over my kids in high heels too! GREAT shot! That is seriously the best photo ever.
These are fantastic.. all of them.. but my very fav of all of these is the skeeball shot.. wow girl.. you rocked all of these
i love shannon! i’m so excited to see her family pics! Yay!
Tara, did you photograph them before? Seems to me I remember the little girl wearing a skirt and black “Harley” type boots. Great job as always.
