just be.

emily took a class from amy tan at sweetpeas and snapshots in february. amy taught the class her reverse applique technique and emily made me this shirt.

I LOVE IT and i want to wear it everyday.

and speaking of amy, things like this happen in my life so often and its starting to freak me out. about two years ago i met a woman at a class donna downey was teaching at my local scrapbook store, scrapbook oasis. she was wearing a really cute tshirt (and im so mad that i dont remember her name, because ive met her more than once and i think she is adorable) but i asked her where she got it and she told me it was an amy tangerine shirt. i looked amy up when i got home and was so bummed she didnt have photos of her shirts on her website, but after some searching, found her stuff online. i thought to myself, this girl really needs photos of her work! i thought about emailing her, how cool would it be to do that for her? never thinking in a million years it would ever happen. well, fast forward two years and once again the world is so much smarter than i give it credit. how we manage to hook up with people so naturally….i know it is so meant to be, but it boggles my mind.

so back to present day-emily met amy and amy then learned about me through emilys blog. emily says to me one day, “i wonder if amy would want to use anna and ivy as models!” and we giggled at the possibility of it. but it turns out, she DID want to use them as models-and me as the photographer! last week i went up to LA and shot her line of kids t-shirts. we used the girls and two little boys that live near ivy. it was awesome!

how crazy is that?

  1. HI!! OHHHHYIPPEEE! {insert HAPPY dance}! You are too nice…adorable?! haha. LOVE IT! I remember that I was sooo overjoyed that Amy responded to my crazy email telling her about you…”Hi Amy, I’m a friend of Sally Y…your mom knows her sis that works at the Apple store…we stalk your sample sales…if you ever need a photographer…” haha. HUGS!! Kris

  2. Wonderful story Tara, make us stop and think about those coincidents that are not really coincidences…

  3. I believe – The world is kind to those who are kind to it. If you werent you.. you wouldnt have thought about photographing Amy’s Ts for her 2 years ago. If you didnt do what you love and love what you do you wouldnt have wanted to volunteer.. and if you werent you.. she wouldnt have wanted you to be the one to do it. And if Amy was so uber cool and talented.. people wouldnt have thought of her when they met you and vice versa (clear as mud?) … So.. Thank you for being kind to the world. HOW cute are those 2 lil girls! hehe.. they are loving their big starring moment!

  4. Well done – Anna just stays being so freaking cute – I remember the photos of her from twopeasinabucket many years ago in her pram with her blankets. She’s a natural born beaut – we can only imagine at her true cuteness. You look just as happy and contented – that’s what life is all about.

  5. Tara, these pictures are SO awesome! You make those kids look like professional models. Maybe it is the start of Anna’s future career! What vibrant colors – love the clothes line too. I love the one where Anna is in the background stepping onto the boat. How DID you manage that? Great job!

  6. thanks guys! :) :)

the pink and white skirt is from baby gap and the dot pattern skirt is from mini boden. i got them both on sale ages ago-im always on the lookout for polka dot anything and skirts for the girls.

if you go to amy’s blog you can find links on where to find the shirts.

  7. Ok, now that I am done crying about the multi-generational post, I will comment on this one.
You could totally rock the clothing ad photography world. Did I not just tell you this? :) I LOVE these shots. The one of Ivy in the skirt, and Anna rockin the boat in the backround is to die for. Love the co-ed ones too.

  8. Everyone else has said it all in the above posts… way cool. Love to run into people.

  10. I see someone else mentioned it, but you could see your kids (yours and ems) on tv over on Amy’s blog. Click on the first one and you’ll see them! Way cool! Love your shirt!

  11. You have found another nitch to etch into your already creative Karma “Just Be” life.

What beautiful works of art the tee’s are!! And of course I am partial to the “tOO cUTE MODeLS” These crazy letters represent 2 crazy little girls who feed off each other so well…

Amy is very talented….she will do amazing things. You embraced her talent to fit the fun the clothes represent. You are so blessed at this. And you two together? What a wonderful meshing of the minds. Who would of thought……

You have given your momma yet another reason to be proud. So much that not even a tee shirt or picture could emblish the feeling enough. ( Well maybe not anyway….)

    I love you

  12. have i told you lately that you are just too freakin cool? your mom’s comment gave me “chili bumps”. the girls are a couple of cuties. awesome job.
    smiles,
