i get asked a lot about

where i have my photos printed.
i do two things.
one, i have a photo printer at home that the very awesome people at HP sent to me to test out. it is so amazing. the color that comes out of this puppy is just spot on what i see on my screen. it dries immediately. it has seperate ink cartridges. it is a beast! a lovely lovely beast! haha jeff couldnt believe when we pulled the sucker out of the box. “it has its own weather system!”

i also have a super speedy and cute little desktop printer called the HP Photosmart A716.

i use my photo printers to make prints of photos i want to use right now-or to make enlargements or prints for my friends. it prints up to 13×19 or some crazy thing like that!

then, i also have every picture i take printed in 4×6 at the very best lab in all the world: 30 Minute Photos in Irvine, CA, run by Mitch, Carl, and Brian. they do such a great job on all my printing-and are incredibly, incredibly nice to boot. you will usually get a candy bar or even a popsicle if you pick your images up onsite! this year they started gearing towards digital scrapbookers and have tons of kiosks in the lab, along with albums, 12×12 frames, etc etc. the lab itself has a really cool feel. you can have your 12×12 pages printed and bound into a hard cover book, get posters made, bring in your shoebox of old photos to get scanned to disc….. i highly recommend this place if you are in the OC area. if you arent, you can upload online and they fedex your prints to your door. tell them i sent you and youll get extra special treatment. right guys?? :)

so, now next time someone asks where i get my photos printed, or whether i print at home or at a lab, i will link them here. :)

off to send the kidlets to bed.

  1. Thanks for the tip. I’m a recent lurker trying to learn to be just like you! :-)

Seriously, I often wondered how you handled printing, but didn’t want to bother you to ask.

Take care of the sick kiddos. That’s the best job ever. Even better than photography, most days anyway. :-P

  2. Thanks for the info. We have a Canon printer that prints pretty sweet pics. We just have a crappy dig camera right now. GEtting a D-Rebel very soon though! Our current is just 2 MP!! So sucky! Our Canon printer is great though…Love the hambly necklaces and fun felt clippys!! So have to check them out! Love all of it! ttfn

  3. jenny-nope, i have no need for a scanner at this point. when i do layouts for simple i just take a photo of them. and since i am a digital photog i dont have any pics to scan.

i did at one time have an HP and after buying a canon first, i liked HP better. i liked the scanner software it came with.

  4. Thank-you so very much for posting this. I just got all of my mom’s old pictures and wondered how I was going to scan them all in to preserve them. Now I know I can send them all to 30 Minute Photos and they will scan them for me at a reasonable price!!!

    Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you!

  5. Oh my gosh…I got my christmas cards printed with them. Can I just say that you are so right, they are so nice and helpful…my pictures were ordered one day at 3pm, and arrived the NEXT day around 10am!! They even threw in a nice box of chocolates with my order Ü

  6. Your work is so wonderful! Thanks for the recommendations for printer and those guys in Irvine! Any chance you’d move this info to your FAQ section? I keep going there because I’m hoping to upgrade from my point and shoot to a recommended camera next year and I hope to upgrade to a wide-format printer someday!

    Thanks for sharing!
