1. going into the balboa peninsula on a holiday weekend: NOT SMART.
2. kim has the most lovely family.
3. nathan should win awards for most stubborn and most grumpy.
4. jeff should win awards for his rendition of simon says.
5. remember to ignore the chaos we are causing as we roam the streets with ten people, six children, four adults, two cameras, and two camera bags.
6. bribe the kids with cotton candy and popcorn.
7. let them down slowly and easily when they dont get said cotton candy and popcorn.
8. do breathing exercises while you sit in traffic for an hour to get from the beach to the freeway. (a drive that usually takes, oh….about FIVE MINUTES.)
9. default to del taco for dinner at 10pm on a sunday night because everything else is closed.
10. most of all, enjoy the time spent with friends and the crazy craziness that happens when you get all of us together.

all photos taken by kim heffington.
proofed by me.
i cant wait to see what she does with them once she gets home from vacation.
there are more to share, but i want to wait until she gets home to do it.

  1. I absolutely love the coloring you did on the top picture in the photo booth. Question: did you learn photoshop on your own or did you take a class? Just curious! :) Your family is precious!!

  7. It’s been a while since I’ve said hello. Love seeing pictures of the whole family–totally adorable! And if you are passing out prizes for stubborn, grumpy boys, I have a six year old who would definitely qualify. :) Nice to know we are not alone. Sounds like you had a great time in spite of traffic.

  8. Wow, these are really cool. Can’t wait to see the rest! It’s obvious from all your photos that your home is full of love. And y’all are such a good looking family!

  9. I was really worried about this shoot… 2 families, crowded public place, 4th of July weekend at the beach. Not to mention that I share the same “love” of photo shoots that I am sure all husbands feel (hehe, j/k babe). But it really wasn’t that bad. In fact, minus the insane drive home, I actually had a good time. Thank you so much for the photos Kim. You did an amazing job!

  10. Love, love, love the photo booth pic. Love, love, love the family pic on the stairs. Love, love, love- oh, who am I kidding, I love them all! Such a beautiful family!

    Can’t wait to see more!

  12. One of the things on my list (that I’ve not yet written or totally thought out) of 50 things to do before I die, is to get photos of me and my hubby and family pics that look and feel like these here. If I’m really lucky and a BIG DREAMER- I’ll actually get them taken by you! Sweet dreams.
