Okay, if not for the fact that it’s now pitch dark outside, I’d be dragging my reluctant 8yo son outside to try this cool “Tara Technique”! As usual, you inspire!!
What a cutie, BTW!! And that t-shirt is perfect!! LOL!
OMG Love the one of him looking down!! He has such a cute smile.
I only wish my boys were still little enough to get those great shots. At 12 and 15 I can hardly get a christmas pic let alone an awesome “Tara Shot” but I keep trying! Keep the inspiration coming!
Great pictures!! He’s such a cutie!! Oh the lengths photographers will go to get a great shot!!
So glad to see you posting again! Your blog was my absolute favorite and I have missed it! Hope there is more to come.
okay so that’s more than letting you take his picture. That’s letting you contort yourself into an odd position, OUTSIDE to take his picture.
He deserves a medal, or ice cream :)
These are great photos of your sweet little guy :) how fun!
great shots! It illustrates how willing photographers are to get “that shot” when we sacrifice our bodies and become contortionists while shooting :)
he is just adorable. and oh so coOL!

your pictures are awesome! these kinda remind me of some i took a few years ago… go to my blog and look under ‘before i went digital’ in my photo albums… mine were for a wierd photo class so they are a bit creepy… but same positioning! your amazing! thanks for sharing.
that is awesome. his hair has gotten long. he is so handsome.
Very cool technique Tara – thanks for sharing all your photography tips with us! I recently got a D70s and I have a little notebook in my camera bag that I write all of your tips in so when I have the opportunity I will have the info!
Now, I just need to learn how to use the darn thing…
haha..cute. :) love the boden shirt…almost got the hotdog one for Austin. He loves their stuff…thanks to you!! hehe :)
Wow! Those are great. Will have to try this once it stops sleeting here. Thanks for the idea.
So I’m just visioning someone driving by your house and thinking, “Why on earth is that woman lying on her driveway with her son standing over her? Is she hurt?” ha! The things you gotta do for the sake of a great photo. Sweet.
Oh my gosh, I was laying half in the street yesterday taking photographs from the same angle!!! Imagine my surprise to see the same angle show up on the blog- from the same day. I guess great minds work alike! *grin* I might try to redo the shot I was aiming for since the lighting wasn’t as good as I wanted. I did have one of my three year olds stand on a stool after she wanted me to “picture” her. When I saw her photos, a light bulb went off. Using a stool with my other subject may also help get the shot I wanted to take.
wow..awesome angle…must try!
oh, photo guru, would you share with us how you got your exposure setting for this shot? If you left it up to the camera, I would assume he would have been horribly backlit and just a shadow. Do you use a light meter? thanks!
luv your superhero! he looks mighty and strong and like he will save the world someday. and i bet someday he will!
