Jax \ 5 weeks \ at home

Jax is the son of my best friends, Jalayne and Justin. You can see the progression of their life together here and here and here.

I spent a weekend with them in May, documenting what their days were like with newborn Jax. I set out to photograph the things that I wish had been photographed for me when I had new babies. Putting together a new swing, breastfeeding and cuddles, soothing a tired little man, before and afters…

We also went to Justin’s woodworking shop on our last day together, to capture the family in another personal, special kind of place. Those will be posted tomorrow.

I love these pictures, I love him, and I love them. With all of my heart.

Jalayne and Justin welcomed their baby boy Jax into the world last week.

I will be traveling up soon to meet him, and as you can imagine, I cannot wait.

These were taken in her eighth month, at home.

I love how the dogs are always at her feet.

And I love, love, love, love, love the shape of her pregnant body.

Baby makes four. This was the follow up session to the maternity session posted previously.

Sacha will grow up speaking French and English and driving around in a red VW bus. Lucky, lucky him.

This happy family found me via Google, and booked a maternity and newborn session. Expats hailing from Switzerland and France, our session was peppered with the beautiful sounds of the french language. We started off at home and then took their CHERRY Volkswagen bus to a nearby park. Alex has owned it since he was a teenager! I think you can tell from the smiles that they have a fabulous time together. I left them with a smile of my own that lasted all day AND vintage movie theater seats they were trying to get rid of, also hailing from Switzerland. Double score. I have wanted some of my own for years.

The last image is the one they chose for their big canvas. Such a happy image to have hanging in their home.
