I heard Tame Impala first on For Me, For You and bought it right away. It just feels like hot summer weekends sitting on the patio with an iced tea to me. And I like that, a lot.

This song in particular stood out right away because of the title: Solitude is Bliss.

I relate to that. Completely. Solitude IS bliss. I’ve been listening to this one the most.

Space around me where my soul can breathe
I’ve got body that my mind can leave
Nothing else matters, I don’t care what I miss
Company’s okay
Solitude is bliss

I loved how they visualized the lyrics. Going from stressed in a crowd to carefree once he is back on his own.

I don’t like crowds, so I laughed at the happy dance moves – I definitely feel that way after I get freed from a big crowd, like after a concert or in traffic. Happy dance kick.

I have been wanting to post again, as some sort of encouragement for those of you struggling, but wasn’t sure what to say. We are also on Spring Break, so I’ve been offline for most of the week.

Today, I got an email from a lovely person named Isela, who shared a song lyric and Youtube video with me. I sat and listened to it with tears streaming down my face. I have a feeling it’s going to be on repeat for awhile. It was then that I realized what I wanted to share with all of you. I have been listening to several songs over the last few months – songs of inspiration, songs of encouragement, songs to lift me up and give me strength.

Here they are:

I was cleaning the kitchen while this album was playing out of our iPod dock. Drew wandered in to grab a banana or maybe a slice of toast and said,”What is that sound? Is it a song?”

“Yah, it’s this guy called Bibio – you like it?”

“It sounds like I’m underwater in the ocean. Like, if I was in a movie, and I was underwater, swimming around, this song would be playing.”

And then he did a wide eyed fish face and swam through the air in front of the refrigerator.

This small interaction just made me stop. And appreciate him. And appreciate how open he is, how he just says what he thinks.
