Babble Top 20 Baby Photo Blogs

WHAT?!

I just found out that Babble.com named this blog in their Top 20 Baby Photo Blogs, and that I am one of their “favorite mom photographers around the web.”

This is what they had to say:

“You can feel Tara’s passion for photography right from the get-go: this Orange County, CA, photographer’s About page states her philosophy as “perfectly imperfect,” and that’s just how we like it. This blog features large, colorful photographs of daily family adventures and beautiful home décor. Her family photography goes beyond the traditional white shirts and jeans, though the beach-y aesthetic is one of our favorite things about this blog. She’s not one to aim for “flawless” pictures, but authenticity, lollipop-stained mouths and all. Tara also has a request for clients: “When we meet, show up with your heart. I can’t wait to meet it.” Us, too.

It’s pretty fun to be on a top 20 list. I was honored and excited to be on it. Babble, thank you so much!

XO

they rock my stripey socks

THE Marina Miller was in town a few months ago from her home in Hawaii. I had the pleasure, (NAY the privilege!), of meeting her entire family and taking them to a new spot I found while garage sale-ing. She is one of my favorite friends to follow online, and it was so good to spend time with her and her boys.

I love:

that everyone wore regular clothes and didn’t get “dressed up for a photo shoot”
the ‘hawaiian express” tattoo peeking out
the light coming through the trees
the little hand grabbing big brother’s t-shirt,
and then the sweet hands holding onto elbows right after
Dad’s socks/shoe combo
Marina’s red belt (I have the same dress & we are both too tall to wear it as one) and seashell earrings (perfect way to bring a touch of home into the session)
Marina’s genuine and contagious open mouth laugh
that the boys loved this place as much as I thought they would
the differently exposed ‘in between’ shots
the black/white shot of the three boys
that one of the boys gave her the flower tucked behind her ear
how they turned a log into a see-saw
the cold, sweet sodas at the end of the warm, sticky shoot

Love you Marina, Jason + crew!

the last light of the day

And a new favorite. (SOOC! That light was gorgeous.)

Have a great weekend everyone, hope it includes some of this.
