These are my new school shoes. They are called high tops. They came with silver glitter shoelaces but we changed to pink glitter shoelaces. I love my new shoes!

When she picked these it was all I could do to contain myself. They are some of the most tacky, god awful shoes I’ve ever seen but you should have seen the way her face lit up when she tried them on. They are so ugly they are cute. I die inside a little bit every time she wears them but they are starting to grow on me. Kind of like Taylor Swift. At least they don’t have Hannah Montana on them. You know I draw the line there.

(We help the girls email each other as a way to keep in touch. They also try to write/draw/create something every Sunday to ship off to their pen pal in another country.)

Jennifer - That is beyond sweet. My daughter has an email pen pal that she's been writing to for a couple of years. They met at a party, hit it off and the rest is history. :)

Krista - Ha ha! I have a 6 1/2 year old with the same taste in shoes. She would LOVE these.

Farrah - Too funny! My daughter has the same shoes and I agree with your feelings about them completely! My friends look at me with strange faces when she wears them... but they don't understand how happy they make her :)

tracy - omg, my 8 yr old has the same shoes. she got them as her basketball shoes, so just imagine. all the parents comment and crack up about them. i think i have shown them on my blog before even. when she picked them-me, my mom and my niece all did an eye roll. this one of mine is a real individual!

Loupy - Hello Tara, my kids are looking for a pen pal. Can you let me know how you found a pen pal for your kids? Is there a website you went on? I found some but not sure if they are safe or not. thank you!

Tammy Mellish - Oh boy, I can SO relate! Shopping for Mikaela was challenging only sometimes. Shopping with Chloe is challenging 89.9% of the time, and just last week at Target.. it was over SHOES! It's their world though, and I needed to remind myself that over and over. I love how she personalized them with her color.. the color PiNk! She's super sweet! Good idea with the water, too! I've never heard of that, and I'll definitively be contributing to your cause. I am only paid once a month though (I'm mentioned before that I am a developmental home provider, and we live on a shoestring budget.. literally! But I will be back in a couple of days!). I love how you can move mountains with the simplest of steps!

Sara - These are rad! I would have been over the moon about these anytime between 1st and 4th grades! Although I'd probably have the same reaction as you if my kid wore them! ha!

beth - my daughter was so excited when i showed her your blog...she has the exact same pair of shoes. they make me a little crazy, but she rocks them like the middle schoolers (she's in 2nd grade). :)

Fabi Moraes - Anita would totally love those shoes. And I agree with you Tara, they are so ugly they are cute. Anita has other pieces os clothing that fall into this category as well... Maybe they will be fashion goddesses one day. Or maybe were are becoming our moms...

kimbrali - every time i read your sweet little family posts it makes me want to be a better mom. i hate to admit it but there is no way i would have let my seven year old daughter buy those shoes :) ah! im a horrible person for admitting that! but really.... they are just shoes. and if they make her happy i guess its worth the hot pink. glitter. and stars. :) you are wonderful.

Shanna - My daughter got some Hanna Montana high tops (thankfully w/o the picture of Hannah so it's hard to tell that they actually are that "brand") She loves them. I hate them. But like you and these shoes. They are beginning to grow on me.

Kelli - My dd has these same shoes. She has cerebral palsy, so we were thrilled to find out that the shoes are wide enough that she can wear them with her brace! **HAPPY DANCE** She wears them with everything, dresses, shorts, whatever. I only have one rule, she can't wear them when she wears red! A mommy has to draw the line somewhere :)

ryan - so cute! I can so relate to you! My daughter is 6 and a half year old, I die inside a little bit everytime I take a look at some of her shoes. However, I like the "high top", it kinda looks like from "Back to the Future".:-)
