when magic happens

It started out like this:

M067

Very sweet kids, very fun kids, still very dry kids.

And quickly moved to this:

M079

The light was AMAZING on this evening, and I had pulled out my 50mm 1.2 lens. These were all shot at 1.2 at 6:30pm. It looks like buttery goodness doesn’t it? That light?

Then the kids just went for it, and the mixture of their freedom and careless joy, the light, the water, and that buttery lens…..?

Magic for this girl. When I was photographing them, I got goosebumps.

I’ll share the rest of the session tomorrow.

stacymeyers - 'buttery' in deed...sweet magic!

Sandi Keene - wow - can't wait to see more!

Fabi Moraes - I think I've seen those kids before... The beautiful light would be wasted without you there, Tara! None of this can happen without your magic touch. You rock!

MelissaF - Love it!! You have to admire/adore/envy the freedom and lack of inhibitions that only childhood brings. Can't wait to see more!

Kat Braman - absolutely gorgeous! I got goosebumps looking at these.

Kristi - I always wondered what your magic time at the beach was...now I know, it is 6:30. And that 50 1.2.....is an amazing lens. I have the 85, and when everything clicks with it....it is unbeatable. What a fun, fun session

PamperingBeki - Ohmygoodness, those are so incredibly precious! Beautiful, Tara.

amanda - amazing and magical.

Jana - true beauty! The light, the kids, the photographer, the location... *sigh :)

marcy - lovely :)

Carolyn Egerszegi - Beautiful photos. Absolute magic! And I need to comment on the post below... even though you've turned off the comments. What a great article about the pizza dude philosophy. Thanks for sharing. Oprah's rerun episode last Thursday was about rudeness. It was a great reminder of how to behave in a civilized society. One of the things Oprah said was that a person should be measured by the way we treat the people who serve us (like the pizza dude). I definitely agree. Anyway, thanks for always making me smile and think and appreciate beauty Tara!

Denise Conrad - You truly inspire me! I love these photos - their amazing.

shari schwarz - I was hoping (virtually praying) that you posted today. I so needed this bit of heart-warming inspiration! Absolutely love the first photo of the kids playing shirtless in the water...priceless! You couldn't have planned a better shot.
