jeff texted me while i was out with the kids this morning and said “sign into IM when you get home.”

so i did.

me: hey babe, what did you need?
him: im working on some stuff and just want you at my beckon call.
me: is that how you think that is spelled/said?
him: it is sad i know. i am an illiterate wretch.
me: well shoot, maybe you are right. i thought it was beck AND call, but beckon means call…..
him: hook ED on PUH onics, work ED for ME!
me: looking it up…

me: im right.

him: HAHAHA!

  1. lol — Oh, Jeff — she got you there.
Isn’t it funny (or sad) what this texting/e-mailing/twittery life is doing to our kids [and spouses]? I always thought of my dad as a brilliant Engineer of the highest order, until I started seeing how he spells things on e-mail!

  2. Tara you missed an awesome opportunity. you should have bet one week at being at the other’s ‘beck and call’ loser takes all… you would SO be in trouble then!

  3. Haha! I realized a few years ago that my hubby kept saying “for all intensive purposes” instead of “for all intents and purposes”. He was a bit more embarrassed when I corrected him than your dh (maybe because I was laughing so hard?). :p

  4. Oh Tara, if you had any idea how many phrases and things I don’t know how to spell you would be ashamed of me. BTW, the latest one I need to figure out is if it’s “deathly silent” or “deafly silent”. I’m not going to say which one I think it is for fear of embarressment.

  5. Hi Tara!

I really enjoy your blog… and find myself checking in often to see your work, hear your stories and share a laugh. I am finally piping up!

Love the “hook ED on PUH onics, work ED for ME!” Is your family, by any chance, Brian Regan fans??

    Have a great day!

  6. ha ha! I did the same thing with “all intents and purposes”…..I ALWAYS thought it was for “all INTENSIVE purposes”. I was absolutely floored when I found out I was wrong! LOL…

  7. Tara,
All I could think of when you posted that was Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman”. When Richard Gere asks her to spend the week with him…she says, “I would love to be your beck and call girl, but you could get a million chicks for free!”Maybe Jeff is trying to beckon you:)

If you get a moment check out my blog…I know a momma like you will appreciate what’s in your future.
