anna is standing over my shoulder saying, “mom, your time is up.”

so i have to make this fast apparently.

i just want to say thank you for all the incredibly kind and supportive and like-minded comments and emails. seriously, this is why i blog! dont you agree that we can feel so alone and so different and so isolated as women and mothers? and the internet has made it possible to connect – so that we no longer have to feel that way.

i think its safe to say that no matter what you are going through in your life, or what obstacles you are trying to overcome…you are not alone in your fight.

so thank you.

tara

P.S. my OPAM is coming along. i finally figured out this weekend what prints im putting into my frames and sent them off to be printed. nothing like waiting until the last minute-but at least i know im going to finish! i CANT wait to show you guys the finished product. im SO excited about it.

P.S.S. i have updated my check it section below. can i get your opinions on the placement of it now? i am really missing my sidebar from my old blog-who goes to the bottom to check it out? who doesnt “check it” anymore?

curious-and maybe redesigning the blog to add a sidebar soon.

  1. Hey there T… you are right on about the whole “not feeling alone” thing that can come with blogging and the internet. Thanks for your encouragement and comments. It took me a few weeks to find the links at the bottom of your blog. I like the sidebar WAY better. (but it may compromise the size of your images?) You ROCK!

  2. I’ve got to say that I don’t “check that out” ever since the new blog. There’s something about having it as a side-bar, but maybe it just takes getting used to. I miss the what’s in my bag section. ;o)

  3. I had no idea there was stuff at the bottom, thanks for letting me know, becuase I was missing your “check it” choices.

Also, was just feeling the same about writing my blog as well. After a week away, I’m truly more appreciative of this venue to post thoughts, ideas and conversation starters … and actually get feedback + make a connection with people. it’s incredible when you stop to think about it.

  4. Irish Tara here! its really great Tara to have discovered your blog, your work and that of your friends is so inspiring. I feel you guys are about 5 years ahead of us here, photography in Ireland is still very male dominated and studio based. I love that how my business has grown organically – relaxed family atmosphere, natural light, strong design – is how most of you run your businesses. So thank you for the inspiration and affirmation!

  5. Tara- you’re an inspiring person, your warmth radiates through your words and images, and I don’t even know you in person.

I must admit though, I miss your sidebar, I dislike blogs without sidebars. For me, the footer is for “fine print” you never read. I don’t scroll down on blogs. Sorry

  6. I never remember to scroll down anymore. Would love a sidebar :)
On that note, I really love those keyboard shortcut covers. Genius!
I’m glad you take joy in blogging because we take joy in reading!

  7. I can’t wait to see that collage! I can’t even tell you how grateful I am for YOU and all you have done for me! Thank you for making me feel like I am not alone in MY fight! Those pictures taken below are so amazing and totally capture your essence loves! You are so SO beautiful! I think my favorite is also the head thrown back laughing picture since I have seen you do that many times. I didn’t know the “check it section” was down there, but I do now. Thinking of you today.

  8. Tara – I just wanted to say that yours and CZ’s blogs played a part in inspiring me to start my own. I love connecting with people this way … knowing that there are others out there just like me makes my own SAHM world a little less lonely, kwim? About your Check It section … I agree with everyone else – I completely forget it’s down there! I’m all for the sidebar.

  9. Personally, I like sidebars. I seem to forget to check the bottom of pages. But the REAL reason I’m commenting is because I’m bummed your “In My Bag” page doesn’t seem to be working. Are you still working on it? I’m curious what type of equipment you use. :)

  10. As always, love to see what you have to publish and say – I feel my stomach drop when there are no photos to be mesmorized by – no pressure! :) And, I especially get sad when I see you’re going to be out of town for like a week – “what on earth?! can she do that?! how is she going to post??” LOL!! All in good fun. :)

My vote would be for the Check It to be in the sidebar – I think you’re right that many won’t be going to the bottom to see that – especially those of us who follow your blog regularly – we’ve seen the previous posts, so there isn’t reason for me to scroll down. You know??

  11. I agree wholeheartedly. I’m so happy there are people like you putting it out there every day. Every little bit helps!

I still check the “Check it”, but am bummed that it’s on the bottom of the page. I’m not going to stop going there or anything, because I loves it, but count me as a vote to put in a sidebar!

  12. Hi Tara….I miss the sidebar, I sometimes remember to go all the way down and check…also the new format is really wide, so I have to move back and forth to read the entire posting….though I gladly do it to read your blog!

  13. I dont typically go to the bottom.. BUT…… yours are worthwhile!
Could you use the menu system above? A check it link.. and drop down to a pile of links?

and you are not wrong… being a wife mother photographer friend and all those things unite us… I love how real you are.. how you share.. openly and with a warm heart. I know alot of people come here to soak in your beauitful images (guilty!) but.. I really enjoy reading your words, sympathising, empathising and thinking over them. Thank you for being you. I also love reading blogs about people’s whose lives are oh so very different to my own.. something I would never live..it lets me see their world through their eyes.

  14. I love the idea of OPAM. We are having bathrooms remodelled now…that is worth 6 months!!!
I have to say I loved your Check it section and I have completely forgot about it since the new blog. I just watched the audition and OMG!! Still wiping the tears.
Definitetly move it back to a side bar.

  15. and just to be completely different – I don’t miss the sidebar at all – LOVE the big pictures far more… but agree, I never remember to actually check below – also agree to menu at top – would check it a lot more often.

I just love your work more than the cool things you find, though i do like those too!

  16. I loved when you had stuff to check out at the side, I always checked the stuff out, but now I don’t go unless I can remember to scroll down. You know the saying..out of sight out of mind!! Hope you go back to the sidebar!!
    your faithful reader….jackie

  17. Hi there Tara! I love the look of your new blog. I do miss the sidebar, specifically for the “check it” section. I forget about it now, and only remember to check it when you mention it. Since I check your blog nearly every day, I don’t ever get to the bottom, only the current post! Keep up the amazing, inspiring work!

  18. i am late in the game i know but wanted to tell you how much i enjoyed your posts about utah, the pictures of you are beautiful and you write from the heart, which keeps me coming back to your blog! I can’t wait to see the OPAM results, too!
